Cable Zgemma 1 Questions Please

Hi,

Just got me Zgemma 1 today and have flashed it with Zgemma star 2s Vix 3.2.021 sucmnsee full! Backup 02.12.2015 :)

All set up and working fine, but question, do these box not run as a stand alone for Virmin or must you have the sat feed installed. makes sense really that you need a feed from sly for info etc. but tried all sort to get it working and just got timeout for tuner lock etc. when no sly connected....

I'm not that bothered as I've now attached the sat feed and have it all working, and I can just scan the virmin and make a bouquet etc. if I want to....great stuff

Awesome boxes and love the image and the skin A+++++

was supposed to be going to work, but sacked it in to play with all the goodies on this box :)

yeah had tried that.... it's cool mate, just wondered that's all.....

one problem at the mo, changed the usb flash drive for a hdd and when trying to get the EPG to download then it crashes the box........I've formatted it and done what your supposed to do with the mount etc.

dang now i ballsed it up...was trying to start again and decided to factory reset, and put the image back on with all the lovely settings, when I've copied over the folder to a usb stick for flashing and turn the box on it just boots and doesn't flash..... any ideas on that?
 
Switch the box off
Take USB
Full low level format (hdd guru)
Windows fat32 format
Add the Zgemma folder to USB
Put in back of box
Power back up.

Sounds like when you tried to do it, it became a formatting issue.
 
you can also try going into
"setup" "system" then "Customise"
and change settings ...
"Alternative services tuner priority" Dvb-c as first

also change the "preferred tuner " Tuner B ......cable tuner

also on my box I've set it so it loads a virgin hd channel on startup ( bbc1hd ) with my chosen list of bouquets (virgin hd channels)
So when I go into my tv guide after start up it just shows virgin hd bouquets. ( this just amkes it easier at start up so I dont have to chose my bouquets

does anyone know where the setting is to tell the box to load the last channel you were watching before you shut down or reboot? I tried a new vix image yesterday on a new h2.h box and it loaded the last channel i was watching after rebooting

I cant find this option :(

Anyway to do the way I've set it ..... go onto the channel you want as the startup ........... then while on the channel go into tv guide and while tv guides open press the "menu" button ....
A menu will appear with the option "set as startup service" press ok
The channel you want at startup make sure to go to this channel thru the group of bouquets you want

awesome man! sorted, phew flashing the image back as we speak, I did FTP and copy over the folder and tried a vix image restore but that wasn't having it....woo hoo....right back to the EPG ! that's what started it all!

I not sure if my way is the best way
On my H1 box I've both my sat and cable lines in the one newcamd.list file with both running mgcamd 1.35a ...no need to have 2 different cams with stopping and starting them. Both With CWS: starting line
you need to go inside "Autobouquestmaker" - "Configure" and change what fusion has posted up about Zgemma-Star H1 ......Setting up channel list sly/cable

now all I do is press epg on the remote and I have the option to "choose Bouquet" for both sat and cable channels thats the way I use my box , No fav or anything I mostly just load in cable hd so it loads all the normal stuff and movies sports

hope this helps I dont no alot about these boxes i still use sucmness 1.53 vix as I like the layout most and the button config on the remote, I tried a newer version but prefered the older , I've learnt how to change the font size and stuff since so I could go back and change the newer images now if I wanted :)

In auto bouquets maker you can turn off Satellite or turn off Virgin vice versa. Populate a list for one or the other.

Also if you are running both If you press
Menu
Setup
Service searching
Auto bouquets maker
Providers
Providers order

Then You can set which list to populate first. So it follows either the sky format or the Virgin one.
 
ok thanks, tried and when i go into epg then the lists the same with the v stuff in there....i can get to the sat stuff via middle button (enter) and then pressing up, and changing satellites to sly's one then I do see a list of channels offered only via sat
 
Sorry meant to say, if you go to providers order and say you select VM first then sky second you need to scan & reboot to update the bouquet.

one question, I don't seem to be able to clear many channels? hmmmm.....

Have you got the correct net ID for your area? Are you running both sky and VM or just one ?

Can't remember the totals off the top of my head. I know VM is less though.
 
yeah, double checked, I have to keep going into softcam and restarting it on the channel I want to watch, might try mgcam 1.35....

1.35 seems more stable.....cool

Is there any way to remove all the channels that can't be displayed on Sly like the HD channels etc. On my open box there's a channel list that's all sorted with SD channels etc. that be cool

Change your area in auto bouquets to custom. For example
Sky uk: Scottish west custom.

And make sure it's set to swap hd a bit further down on the same page. That will swap out any dead hd channels.
 
Well i must say that I'm over the moon with this box. they are pretty neat !

Some top tips in here, I've changed the EPG so it shows me in a list and that's about it, the image is class, thanks for the help people :)

oh and made a complete back up of the image how it is now and have made a copy should I need to restore...top tip...lolol

i want to buy Zgemma star 2s, before that i want to know how this box. please all user throw some light on this model. and share there experience.
 
I have been using this box with a sly only feed to tuner A. No problems working great. Can it work likewise with one feed to tuner B and disconnect the sly cables? Yes I have a live cable feed to the property. Thinking of changing over but not sure if both VM and sly need to be connected to both tuners a and b to get any joy.
 
Yes you can run tuner B only as well. I find it better to have both running . Gives you Setanta & premier sports on the Sly side of it with the bonus of HD sports on Virgin.
