Why do people feel it's OK to park in these spaces without children!

I'd slash every one of their tyres if I didn't need my job lol!

Gets me angry too, my wife now has an illness that's made her disabled, try and get a disabled spot!! folks in it "just nipping in for a few things" with no blue badge....I'm with you on the tyres lol

I second that, the amount of people I see doing it in both disabled and parent child bays is a joke.

Although, what if you're doing it at like
1am on your visit to your 24 HR supermarket...?

I have cards which I put on the windscreens [I'm blind so our car has a blue badge] I've had some great arguments but in my case ---size matters and the culprits back down, but, as my wife says--society has changed and I am always aware of the idiot with a weapon.

Absolutely reaper, I'm rather large too (used to be into power lifting lol), and have a broad glaswegian accent that comes out when I'm angry, people just see a rather large jock, ranting, don't know what he's saying so just leave lol I was brought up to give up my seat for someone that needed it more than me....where has the manners gone?

Manners and traditions are now all in the wind Mr G----watch the fun when security guards lol try to enforce parking in Tesco's/Asda etc---does anyone take notice? No! the culprits say "won't be a minute" and then go shopping. The guards cannot enforce a non-existant law and are usually too scared to confront anyway. But look at the main offenders---women/taxis and the inevitable policecar, parked whilst they have a cuppa.

GG, come on, you're one of these geeks that parks miles away from the door, in the middle of 2 spaces lol

Yep, it's gone mad, one of the Irish channels, can't remember if RTE ot TV3 had a news reporter and camera ready to "ambush" people parking in disabled spaces, put them on the main news and tried to shame them lol
Oh yes the women leaving the 3 kids in the car un-attended while just "nip in" to supermarket lol

I have a blue badge and have had many an argument with low lifes that park their big cars in the disabled bay just to make their lives easier! I say to them "If they want my illnesses then they can take my space" Most are just scum.

From experience so many blue badge bays are taken up with non badge holders it some times gives them no choice. Our local Tesco have a warden now and for years it was hard to find a place now they are ticketing the non badge holders peeps can now park.
The reason for these bays is to make it easier to get to the entrance, child bays are for safety BOTH are needed!

Please try this Put a straw in your mouth and only breath through the straw and do your daily activities. Then think where would I park if I was shopping in this condition?

I am knocking 75 so I am well aware of the changes that have been made over the years and there is more than one factor at stake here.

1. Lets go back a few years and remember that the disabled vehicle was an Invacar and provided for just one person - the disabled driver. Ok thereis justification for perhaps a carer to assist but we have large 4x4s and the like with a family full of passengers not only parking in disabled bays but also on double yellows - FOR FREE. Whole families parking for free.

2. Parent and toddler bays. My local ASDA had a sign for these users as "Parent and Child Bays". I could have just turned up with my 51 year old son and still have been in compliance. I was sat in the car park one day waiting for my wife when a young woman parks up in one of the bays and out streams three ten plus year olds - the bay wasn't intended for this group either. When i spoke to Customer Services about the wording of the signage it was changed.

3. For my sins, in a former life I was a Bradfordian. Not so long ago the local rag carried an article about the Council sacking employees who had facilitated disabled badges for their relatives and friends - I presume this practice exist elsewhere. There is nothing more annoying than watching someone park up in a disabled bay, display the Blue Badge and all appear to walk off without a care in the world. It happened to me just yesterday. And BTW when an individual is in extreme discomfort before and following hip replacement surgery there are no concessions. You have to suffer the pain of squeezing in and out of the car in some notorious narrow bays. There is need for parking bay size legislation and not just guide lines (pardon the pun).

What is even worse is when they cannot park their cars properly and take up 2 car parking bays.

I park in parent and child spaces all the time, why do you need to be closer because you have a children with young fresh knees?. I also park in disabled bays in the gym car park because if your going to the gym and your disabled the excercise from parking further away will do you good in the long run.
Sometimes I crave confrontation because im a complete sociopath and have a total lack of empathy for my fellow man.

Tbh, the size of the kids today the parent & child spaces should be the furthest away from the supermarket, probably the only walking they will do :)

Totally agree with this and wider spaces to stop them twating the **** out of the car beside
