A Buyers Guide To The Best Box

New to this game, I've just bought an xtrend et8500 Sat receiver so can record on one while watching another. Do I need one or two nlines for this to work?

Just one mate, it's the amount of tuners the receiver has that lets you do this.

Well I was nearly buying the vu solo se when the missus said she didn't want a box that records,so I am after something that takes a n line is hd & is backed by openvix & is good quality.

Edision OS Mega is a good buy.

Hi gang,

If I buy a combo box 1 x sat & 1 x cable tuner, can I watch say for example... on sat tuner normal TV & on cable turner record and vice versa.

Thanks,

I don't quite get your question, but this answer may help, as I am guessing what you are asking. Each tuner is independant of the other, so one can be watching, the other recording, or both recording.

Hope that helps you out

Yep exactly what I wanted to know both yours and cactikid repiles.

i bought the extrend et8500 and very happy with it. great remote control feel and quick box. I found the Zgemma box very slow and laggy. i have heard that the edison box is good

Thanks for this information it is almost exactly what I am looking for, I currently have a Humax HDR1000s, I am looking to control all my devices within my home automation bridge but sadly the Humax doesn't really play ball, it does not have any flavour of API that I can interact with (appears to be locked down to freesat), through looking at alternatives that is when I realised there was a lot I was missing out on.

Does anyone have any experience doing anything similar or any particular units.

The choices are quite limited for 2 x sat and 1 x cable unless you go for a box that you can choose your own tuners like the Xtrend ET8500.

Can anyone recommend a good twin receiver Sat box? Currently have an Openbox v8s but fancy an upgrade to something that runs a Sly like interface/EPG and the ability to record. What's the best box for a budget of around £150?

Also, is it worth buying a pre loaded plug and play box, or are they easy enough to set up?

Thanks for any advice
