A Buyers Guide To The Best Box

This might be either 1. A daft question and/or 2. Posted in totally the wrong place - apologies if this is the case!

I still live at home with my parents and had sky multiroom in my bedroom. I've ordered a Zgemma H2S to replace this. We still have sky in the living room, will this have any effect or will sky be able to tell what I'm using? Basically just want to know if I'm going to end up in lumber for doing this! I'll be using Sky Broadband.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks bees, appreciate the response! I've done a little googling about LNB's, is there a way for me to check this that doesn't involve me scaling the side of the block of flats that I live in? Please excuse my naivety. It was a standalone box in my bedroom so presume it would be ran off it's own feed?

Usually I over-research things, but just this one time I didn't, I bought the VU+ Solo 4k, not that its a 'bad' box, quite the opposite, it had the quickest processor available at the time.
I found out too late, that it had a different TYPE of processor (ARM) as opposed to the MIPS used in most other boxes... This meant that the Solo 4k box is only recently gaining support and momentum.
I'm still happy with the box, I'm not sure if I could have made a better choice, as I never expect things to be easy, but as from day 1 of having this box, it has been an uphill struggle!
I'm just about to try the wooshbuild v5, as the Solo 4k is actually SUPPORTED, and it seems to look beautiful right out of the box!

Hope this helps a bit :-D

Your be fine only problem you may incur is the shield on your sky broadband may need turning off

I am very tempted to upgrade to the Edision OS Mega from my old skybox f5s, once I find the best place to purchase from, I am also in the process of finding a new line provider, which line is best for the OS Mega?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you. Would this work with just Virgin Media broadband via Wifi and no tuner?

It sure does.
My Virgin modem is downstairs and my Edision OS Mini is upstairs in the bedroom... Works fine with the Wireless capabilities :)

i bought the extrend et8500 and very happy with it. great remote control feel and quick box. I found the Zgemma box very slow and laggy. i have heard that the edison box is good

+1 - Love my Xtrend ET8500 and agree with you 100%.
I also have the Edision OS Mini upstairs (Sky only) with Wireless for IPTV etc. The only negative I have to say for the Edision is it's remote control. Awful, just awful!
How the Mrs or I haven't yet thrown it at each other I don't know.... lol

Hi
Hopefully this is the right place to post. I want to get a zgemma (or alternative if you recommend), because i want the whole sly look, pause, rewind etc. I have a solovox at the moment, no issues, however this would be my first zgemma to set up. Anything i need to be mindful of when ordering? I need a zgemma h2s right? Uses the same sat cable etc that i have? From this forum looks like the woolshed build is the way to go once i get the box. Newbie with these boxes so just learning the ropes, thanks.

Hi, I got the zgemma h2s just before christmas, I think the H2H is for VM, and the H2S is satelite. My first box so cant compare but Im very happy with it. No problems with live pause, rewind etc. Need the twin cable from your dish to record a seperate channel but you probably know that already. I set it up with Wooshbuild, pretty straight forward. Theres easy to follow guides on youtube for setting it up, which was great for me being a noob. I had a few issues but they were caused by a faulty dish cable so once I realised where the problem was ( with some help from the good people on here ) it was all straight forward.
Theres a line creator application that I got from a link on this forum but I cant find it, sure someone can provide it. Much simpler than filezilla. Download it onto your comp, enter your line details in the spaces provided, press create, copy it onto a usb and run it through Usb cam importer on Wooshbuild plugins and sorted. Hope some of that helped.

Hi. I live in an apartment with a communal dish, so only have the one Sat socket. Could anyone recommend a Sat box? Been looking at the ZGemma ones but there's so many of them I don't know which one would be ideal for me. Thanks.

Buy the receiver from the forum sponsor and set it up yourself, plenty of help is available here ;-)

Very easy to do yourself and some great guides on here on how to do it. Also this way if anything goes wrong you have a basic understanding of how to maybe fix it

Thanks, who is the sponsor?

Sorry if this has already been covered. I'm currently using a Zgemma H2H with both a sly and virmin line. I do a lot of recording and would like to get my hands on a box that has a twin cable tuner as well as a single sat tuner - does such box exist? Basically I want to be able to be able to record a virmin channel whilst watching another channel. My sky line has ppv boxing which is why I don't want to ditch it.
Hope that makes sense.
