A Buyers Guide To The Best Box

---------- Post Merged at 06:53 PM ----------

hi all, I am thinking of buying a zgemma h.2s box am I better buying a plug n play or is it easy enough to set everything up?
Buy the receiver from the forum sponsor and set it up yourself, plenty of help is available here ;-)

Thanks who is the sponsor?[/QUOTE]

Is there a discount code I can use? I have registered and logged in but the code in the forum doesn't work.

Has anyone used any of the Octagon receivers? Ive got my eye on the SF4008 4K box with 2xDVB/S2 and 1xDVB/C combos as virgin are coming my way soon and fancied having the option of the cable tuner on the box too.

By the specs on websites it seems pretty fast, but just wondering if anyone has had any experience of their previous boxes etc?

Am after abit of info if anyone has used this box.
Am testing iptv boxes and came across this, from doing some reading on other forums it says it comes with a one year mscamd.
But also supports mgcamd Cccam etc.

Ipab image on the zgemma is fairly good. There is also a Vu+Duo backup.

I've got a H2S. Happy so far. Not expecting miracles, and not expecting it last much longer than 12 months, but every day I get after the first year for me is a bonus ;)

I've ordered one. Hopefully will get it next week.

Willo, you must have more tellys than Currys and more sofas than DFS with amount of boxes you have! :)

What spec you ordered? If you get the "factory" to flash ATV or VIX you'll get loads of help here. There's a website with good backups for that model if you want it PM me.

Suitable box

Hi all.

I've been using an Amiko Alien 2 for sat for ages and it works really well with Enigma 2 and Hyperion installed. I am now moving to a VM area and taking their broadband package. Am I right in saying the Amiko box won't work for cable, well VM cable that is. If so, I will get a new box which supports dual sat tuners and a cable tuner for VM. Which box do I go for ? I want one that has a good community about it for backups / plugins / help etc. What do you guys recommend and which image should I be looking to get put on at the dealer level to get me going ? Thanks.

Great thread. I'm a bit of a noob with this stuff but pretty tech savvy. The options are bewildering so thought one of you gurus could help.

Currently have an Openbox and looking to upgrade. Have a Sly line running off the sattelite dish. Have 2 cables coming from LNB but only one plugged in. I have Virgin Cable broadband. Have a NAS and have an Nvidia Shield in the bedroom that I use for Kodi and Netflix etc. House is fully wired network in every room. I'm looking to upgrade but not sure to what.

Until I read this thread I didnt realise I could get a VM line that gives me HD.

Looking for a box that will let me have some HD stuff but also if possible let me stream live TV to my Nvidia Shield. Not hugely bothered about recording but would be a nice feature.

Budget £150 - £200

Was just wanting an opinion, based on my setup and budget, where would some if you gurus go?

Take a look at the Edision OS-Mega, twin sat tuners and a hybrid C/T/S tuner

No you can't run two softcams at the same time in any box that I know of.

It is best if both lines are the same type i.e. N lines run using MG Cam 1.38 seems to be the most common setup.

However if you end up with a C line and an N line, it's not the end of the world, you can run both lines using CCcam 2.3.0

Generally the first option is preferred.

I've always put both Clines and Nlines in Cccam folder and always works...
what difference does it make ???
