Network connection not working.

Hi all,
Would be great if someone could help me.
I have a Dell inspiron 580, on windows 10, upgraded from win 7.
All of a sudden, I lost my internet connection on this machine, while I have four other different things still attached to my WiFi dongle. Everything was working fine, just suddenly, so I don't think it is anything to do with the upgrade to win 10, that was done nearly a year ago.
I have been through just about everything I can, to resolve this issue, but nothing helps.
When I go through the settings, and try to repair the connection, it tells me there may be a problem with the driver, and I should download the latest one, but I have the latest one.
Going through all the settings, I find that my ipv4 and ipv6 connectivity are both not connected, so I do believe, that the problem lies here, somehow. Unfortunately, there is nowhere that I can get these two to connect. I have also checked out my IP config, as suggested by Microsoft website, and type in at the prompt, ipconfig /all. This shows nothing, except four short lines of text, one of which is the PC name, then the other three are just 00000.000 like that.
This leads me to think that my IP config files are missing, as I know there should be several more lines of text in the file when typed into the prompt. I've covered everything I can think of, and just hope that someone here can help, its driving me crazy.

I have just tried another Microsoft fix, being their netshell utility.
When I opened the prompt ant typed in the command to reset, I got the following info:
C:\windows\system/32>netsh into reset resettcpip.text
Resetting, failed.
Access denied.

There is no user specific settings to be reset.

Also, here are info from ipconfig:
C:\windows\system32>ipconfig
Windows IP configuration

Nothing else. Now, config all

C:\windows\system32>ipconfig\all
The system cannot find the path specified.

I hope this info will help someone with a fix for me.

What four other different things are these attached to the dongle? Can you remove these and plug in a LAN cable direct from your laptop to your router. reboot your laptop and see if you still have the problem?
 
Cannot connect with cable, it is WiFi dongle, but I have my laptop, tablet and my phone along with my wife,s phone connected, so I know the device is OK, it is definitely within the PC and most likely the ip config settings, if there are any.

I have tried various bits of software from Microsoft, and also from the windows club, who gave me some info and a small program to reset all parts of the network connectivity, but alas, that didn't work either.

Not sure, I would guess that it would be within one of the programs that I downloaded, but I have not seen it that I can remember.
If there is a command prompt for it, then I've not typed it in personally. Maybe you can tell me how I do the winsock reset, and I will attempt it.

Run CMD as administrator(right click on it) and try these commands in order. Worth a go!

netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
  • netsh int ip reset
  • ipconfig /release
  • ipconfig /renew
  • ipconfig /flushdns
 
I have definitely not used the windsock command, but then others I have used.
I will try again, using the windsock command first. Should I reboot after using the first one, or just go through each one, hitting return and onto next.
 
I've gone through these, but nothing has changed.
I still get ipv4 and ipv6 connectivity, not connected.
I cannot find anywhere that I can change this.
 
right click start menu and go to network connections. When you see the connection right click properties. Is the IPv4 and 6 listed?

Yes, they are listed, but listed as not connected.
I will post some pictures of the same settings for Ethernet and my WiFi connection.
 
Sorry, but no restore point, unless I go back to win 7. I have looked everywhere, and so far I think the best solution is to reset win10, which will I believe, reinstall windows, but I'm not sure if I would lose all my programs and saved files.
I was hoping that I could copy the ipconfig files from another PC, and just paste it into place, where it should be, on my PC, but doesn't look like I can, as no one has replied to that. I didn't ask on here, as I was waiting for someone getting back to me on another forum, but just my luck, no deal.
 
yes, you should get an option to save files when you do the reset, but personally I would copy off any personal stuff in case it goes tits up literally !!
