Just order a H2H, now what?

Hi, having ordered a H2H from the site sponsor I am looking at getting together all the other bits I am going to need and looking for help with this.

I understand I need a usb stick, can I use one stick to flash and then use the same to record onto? I was looking at this one, will it work?

Do I need an adapter to connect the VM line to the box?

What else is needed to get it all setup and working?

Thanks

Thanks Ian, I'd like the ability to record some bits but not much, a few kids programmes really. I'll probably go for a hard drive down the line a bit. Can the hard drive in a VM box be repurposed to use on a zgemma?

Yes, If you get a 3.5" caddy or enclosure to put it in. You'll need to plug it into your PC first to format, but should work fine. Took my Tiivo to bits and put the HDD in my PC for extra storage. No issues.

Great, thanks for that! I'll see if I get into the tivo box in that case. :(y):

if your box is going to be far from the router and you don't want Ethernet cable trailing all over the place then get a pair of homeplugs to connect the router to the box

I hadn't heard of homeplugs till just now. Thanks

You could always go down the wifi route too. It's not the optimal route, but as long as it's done properly it works fine - at the expense of a USB port though.

And I think TiVo boxes use 3.5" HDDs, TiVo V6 boxes use 2.5" HDD's so make sure you get the right sized caddy. And just remember that VM own the Tivo boxes once your contract has ended. It's not like Sky where you own the box. It's not unheard of them to ask for it back and bill you a stupid mount of money if they don't get it.

Ok thanks for that info. I was told to keep the box or recycle it, they're on these new boxes now so probably not bothered about these old ones.

I've received my H2H box today and will be getting started setting it up later. I had a quick look at it and I have to back to work now, but the VM wire fits perfectly into the 'tuner A' port in the back. I was going to pick up an adapter on my way home but do I still need one?

Thanks

I've got my box setup but I'm not receiving any channels. I should be getting a few SD channels I am told but nothing is found when I scan. I have disabled tuner a and the VM line is still active ( I checked) Any ideas what I've done wrong?

I've got my line sorted and I'm getting channels but only via an automatic scan, if I setup channels through the ABM it finds 397 channels but every channel is just a black screen. I've followed the guides on here so I think I've set it up correctly. Any advice?
