WHat box to get?

Evening all,

Thinking of finally purchasing a skybox/openbox zgemma etc. As I have had a high subscription for a while and now got to save for a wedding (more fool me lol)

Anyhow I've looked about and from what I've read on the net everyone says VU+ and then zgemma. I can't afford the VU but I can the zgemma.

I've got a sky disk outside so I'm guessing that's enough to start the zgemma. Have been told that as I have internet with sky it may cause issues for sky channels on my zgemma and people advise using another company. Not sure the level of truth in this.

I can't go to virgin as I'm banned for life for telling their CEO team that I want to shove my refund cheque up there arse when I had issues with their service. I've got a line in but not sure if it's been disconnected or not as I know Vm lines remain active all the time.

A friend basically said it's pointless me getting a zgemma if my virgin line isn't active. I've heard they are still good for sky. And that's why I'm sort of here wanting some direction on the best box I can get.

I would like a box where I could also install kodi and possibly iptv. And heard zgemma can do that. I'm not sure if it's a pain to setup or what etc

Would like some input and assistance if you guys don't mind.

Thanks

Zgemma H2.s is the best for the price range - needs a dish which you have and any internet will work fine as long as you get a few meg in terms of speed.

The Zgemma are best for live tv really - putting third party apps on it isn't recommended as it slows the box down and could crash it but it's been done. Wooshbuild firmware comes with a IPTV app on it but it's not like the conventional iptv but has links for films and series etc.

Having sky broadband won't effect anything at all, mine was perfect,I've just swapped to bt just to save money and faster broadband!

P.s wooshbuild is perfect easy setup build to start with, iptv works perfectly on it but don't bother with kodi, I've been down that road and it's not worth even talking about, get an android box if you want that!

I can get my hands on a zgemma hs2 I think I know it's the twin tuner, for £62 from amazon. Obviously it's a normal box, so the above firmware does it need to be installed or do I just find a site to buy my free gift.

I'm assuming with the gift you get alll channels inc movies n sports? And box office?

It will come with a standard build unless it's been flashed already with a different build, I use wooshbuild which is so simple to use and exactly like the sky you will be used to, check out the zgemma section on the forum for other builds and any help you need for flashing the box

For that price it will be the star-2s which is the slower box ... you really want the H2.s which you're looking around £80+ bare box then you can get a line (gift) through this site to unlock the sub channels :)

How much do you lot pay for a good reliable line??

I pay £40 and am happy with that, just wondered as you hear people say "I only pay £10/yr but are they telling the truth??

It is the hs.2 twin I meant it's only gonna cost me it 62 as I've got a 22 gift card lol.

If my virgin lines active do I just run the cable in there from the wall or do I actually need a virgin modem as I've heard you get the HD having virgin input.

As I can't get virgin due To my "abusive behaviour" if it's a modem I need and my line is still connected, can you still get modded virgin modems? As I can't see anything on the net for them

Yes that's the twin satellite tuner.

You only need a live VM input, so you don't need their internet, though that does ensure the feed stays live if you could get their internet.

Ah that's good to know. I just need to try and see if one of my neighbours has VM and can lend me the modem to try the line to see if it's active.

I'm led to believe that I have to buy a separate gift to get the VM as well? Or is that included in the price that the others said.. 30 a year is it?

Also with the gift is t every channel? Inc box office?

Yeah you'll need a gift for the virgin too. That includes every channel you'll get on virgin. But the price varies from server to server.

The H2s is a twin SATELLITE tuner - you can't get VM on them at all no matter what you do - you'll only get the Sly channels of which most are in SD.

You can use any internet, it doesn't need to be VM.

I may even try and get my box for free when I kick off with my bank today. If they say how can we make it right. I may come up with a monetary value lol.

So is there an actual channel list? And do I get all the sky hd channels or only some?
