Octagon sf4008 4k

I probably would only record 2 and watch another anyway
You will be fine with a 3 connection/tuner line then.

Any more and you would need a line or lines that can handle up to 8 Connections, something which is rare and expensive [emoji16]

So if I just want to record 2 programmes on 2 different channels and watch another on another channel. I will be ok with just the one line.......so dangerous which box would you go for

SouthSimon what image and setup do you have on your octagon what tuners and how many can you watch and record at the same time ...as I am on cable

I only have the cable tuners on my box using a 1 x twin / dual dvb-c, its 1 feed in, tuner splits internally so you can watch one and record another, or record 2 and watch from the filelist as example. I use open atv 6, latest slyk hd skin, oscam_atv 1.2 11353. you can add an additional dvb-c if you like?

If you want to record 2 Channels and watch a third then you need a triple tuner or a FBC tuner (which will do up to 8 channels)

Options wise for 3 cable tuners is limited, so I would try a FBC tuner receiver.

You need to clarify with your line Provider that you have 3 Connections.

This is the one: OCTAGON SF4008 4K UHD 2160p Linux Enigma 2 Receiver 2x Hybrid DVB-C/T/T2 Tuners 1x Satellite DVB-S/S2/S2X
It uses the oscam softcam and it can handle N or C lines. Personally I've always used N lines.
ViX will be an option soon I would have thought. It only takes 2 minutes to flash it yourself though.

Hi Willo, new guy here. Yourself and southsimon are making me think that the OCTAGON SF4008 4K UHD 2160p Linux Enigma 2 Receiver 2x Satellite DVB-S/S2/S2X Tuners is the setup for me. Could I ask you guys what the pros and cons of the images (OpenViX, OpenEIGHT and Open ATV) might be and the differences that they might bring? Currently a skybox user for the last 5/6 years so a fair step up in the tech by the looks of it but keen to broaden my knowledge. Much appreciated lads. Cheers in advance.

In my opinion ViX is the best of the 3. OpenEight is a bit on the basic side and I found ATV was very slow navigating the menus.
I'm very happy with OpenViX and it's a fantastic box. It's edged my HD51 into second place now.

Thanks for the reply mate.

From what I've read earlier in this thread it looks like OpenViX is edging it. I have the box sitting in my basket on WOS but doing a final bit of recon before pulling the trigger on the sale:)

Giving it another 24hrs or so before committing. You got any opinion on the MEELO/VU+ Duo? I see from your earlier posts that you do like the SF4008 but these look around the same price range.

I also like the idea of the tablet/phone viewing option that the others supply, does the SF4008 offer anything similar?

I haven't got a Vu+ so can't really say. I don't bother with streaming either but I'm sure you'll be able to.
I don't think you'll regret getting the SF4008, there seems to be plenty of support for it.

Definitely heading that way I think.

Thanks for time kind sir.

Anyone else getting a slight pause when pressing epg in vix
It lags for a second or 2 and gives me a message saying please wait gathering epg data
In atv6 it works ok

Hi All,

i am also looking to upgrade from my h2s to better box and cable only since i now have VM broadband, been reading lots of threads on here and still trying to decide which box to go for. those who have the SF4008 could you confirm if you can like stream feeds on a mobile. e.g. at present from my h2s i can watch all the channels on my android phone via app called Dream Player, which is very ideal.

App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.cyberdream.dreamepg.player&hl=en_GB

I very rarely stream, but looking at the app it says it supports ARM - Device support: Added support for ARM-V7, ARM64 and x86 devices

I will give it a test and report back?

Yes if you dont mind, look fwd to your feedback. Also that device support list is for Android handsets running on different CUP platforms.

are there even any 4k channels available you can pick up? or did you guys go for this box more because of the faster processor and number of tuners?
