Anyone recommend a good Android Box

Been really happy with my firestick for some time but don't use anything Amazon related, just catch up and kodi.

Would like something a bit faster that I can control with my universal remote.

At the moment I'm contemplating Venz V10 Pro 4K UHD HDR VP9 Android 6 from a popular site for around £80.

Before I take the plunge, has anyone tried these or would suggest something better within the same price range?

Guess a good place to start is the official Kodi forums - try googling for "START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated Feb 2017)" and have a read of the article there.

Looks like the S912 boxes are ones to avoid, I was about to order one but after reading the article on Kodi site I think I'll go for a Minix U1 also!

Alien head on here loves his Android/Kodi boxes if you're stuck PM him...

Xiaomi Mi Box TV same OS as the Nvidia Shield at a 1/4 of the price or Fire TV box.
The box is a fair bit quicker than the stick Kodi is very smooth on it.
I actually sold my Shield and got a Fire TV box as there is very little difference in performance with Kodi.

Yep agree with Terrypepa minix u1 a great little box , plenty of grunt , but as with all boxes quick enternet is the key to running without glitches and skinned down to a handful of stable addons ......

The shield is by far the best but a T8 V5 is an excellent box.So far ive had a T8 V2 and T8 V3. Had 2 M8N boxes.Anything is better really than the firestick as it is a low tier device and a hassle to sideload kodi although it has got much easier.Got my boxes from Entertainment box as they give firmware updates which is important as kodi 17 Krypton will not run on kitkat has to be lollipop and above.I hope this helps.

I'm by no means a pro but I just bought the h96 plus and the specs are some of the best I've seen in the price range. I'm happy with mine so far.

Pointless buying a Shield for catchup as it only has BBC iplayer.
He only wants a box for Kodi and Catchup not gaming.
Well the android box will soon be in the bin once you start to use it.
The shield is the best but expensive.
The Pi is best and cheap. :}}
Im shocked people still buy android boxes tbh

What a nonsensical thing to say, there's some brilliant boxes out there.
The Xiaomi is great but no ethernet kills it for me, I know you can get round that but it bumps the price up and looks a mess.
Never tried a Fire tv box silverblack, I've heard good things. I moved from a stick to a Qbox which has been flawless, plays anything I throw at it.
I want to upgrade again now but the S912's have been a bit hit & miss, and the early RK3399's just aren't there yet. Minix are great but I can't justify the price when I know how good the Qbox is at less than half of the cost.

I moved from a Shield TV to the Fire TV box. It's just as quick for Kodi,Plex,Netflix etc.
It's a shame about the ethernet on the Mi Box but does have 5G Wifi and has Android TV OS which is far easier to use then an Android box.Only downside is lack of apps on TV OS.

Just had an email re. the H96 Max RK3399. 4gb RAM 32gb ROM. Looks like the 3399's are finally starting to roll out at a decent price (£86).
I'm tempted :)
