Great news djgarf, all looks good for buying one of those sony tvs , am i right in saying by the posts kodi seems to work as good as an andriod box ??....

Digital signal format system: DVB-C, DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-T, DVB-T2

Really? Any chance you've tried it?

Is is that when you plug in a sat cable?
yea I have done that, just done the scan really just came up with a list of channels in the 700 odd

Kodi / spmc runs a lot faster on the TV than it did on my fire stick
Have moved from kodi to spmc which is a fork of kodi but made by the old kodi developer and specifically optimized for the android platform.

I'm talking hardware, the TV has 1.5GB and 8GB ROM. Whilst I appreciate firmware updates are good you won't be able to upgrade the guts. It's just my preference, the TV is very good.

Well you could always buy a new android box plug it in
not the same but, the to seems powerful enough

i will say the 1080p looks great
my problem was my 2013 Mac hates playing 4K from my plex

Guys, The idea behind me getting a Sony andriod, I have old tv giving it to my nephew , also the andriod box I have is one of the first boxes that came out , so.. I'm giving that to him as well , rather then buying new tv and seperate andriod box, was going to buy both combined in one , needed to check how they run on the android side of things , so I'm learning a lot from the comments guys get stuff ......

Hi Paulie
I just spotted your thread and felt I had to give you some advice on a Sony TV. In fact it goes to any Sony product. From experience I bought a Sony KDL-50W829B television first things first the picture quality on it is fantastic, but sadly that's as far as it goes. The first problem occurs via the connections and wi-fi which are dire. The system involves the use of Windows Media Player that in short is as useful as a chocolate teapot, it is in a word crap. And don't be fooled into thinking that the people at Sony are helpful, they are completely useless and totally careless in attitude to your needs. An example of which is if you get a reply from them about a problem you sent them they send you an email thanking you for your email and saying they are happy they helped you even though they haven't done a thing. They seem to have a set email they send to everyone with this total bull crap.

The same goes for their laptops, when and I mean when it will go wrong forget about getting help, life is too short. For instance let's take the battery on the laptop it is only good for guarantee for 3 months, but don't be fooled by the time they reply that's if they reply, the time will be up for a fix. So if you value your time and money don't buy Sony seriously take it from me steer clear. Samsung or LG would me my call.

Had the Sony KD55x800 4k for around a year now and have to say its exceptional! Picture quality is second to none. Loaded Kodi on it straight away and have to say it is so much better than the firestick, runs smoother and quicker and had no freezing issues at all. Also installed perfect player from the play store for IPTV. Been great, love it.

I have sony android tv and kodi runs fine on it - significantly smoother than any firestick or android box I have had. It also updates fine or at least mine has.

My YouTube has updated and now I can't change the rest at all

I checked out stats for nerds
And it's says

Dimensions: 1920x1080 *2
Resolution: 2560x1440@24
Optimal Resolution: 2560x1440@24

So I question it's only going to 1080p
4K wouldn't play great anyway mind
