idiot alert

Emailed the suppliers customer support this aft and although helpful I'm not much wiser.
They say there is some play in the arm but they have never had any returned as faulty because of it and the motor comes with an excellent rep (reason I bought it)
So they reckon its either my long/lat setting that are wrong (nope) or alignment.
So tomorrow, weather permitting, although its fitted bang central, I'm going to spin the dish bracket a tad on the motor arm.
Anyone think this is a plan or will the idiot be pishing in the wind :grin:

You say you know its bang on as you mounted the dish to the motor on the floor,
How do you know you mounted the motor dead south on the wall bracket,?

Thanks for reading steptoe.
I used a mobile app and a compass to get somewhere near 0' with the motor at 0'
I then sent the motor to 28.2, played around with the dish elevation while moving the motor on the pole slightly to get a strong signal.
At this point I wasn't sure if I would get a signal on a small dish on Thor.

then go for a sat a bit closer to south than 28e
how small a dish.?

remember
magnetic south [on your compass] is NOT SOUTH

I did mate, have a quick look at my first post. I can get some good readings on 5w and .8
Its as though I'm not following the arc but everything is bang square and centred.

apart from your movement on the motor,
I'm wondering, is your bracket dead plumb, in all planes.?
not wanting to state the obvious, just trying to throw things into the mix you may have missed,

Yes mate. Checked numerous times, though originally this was my problem but perfectly plumb and rock solid.
I even used a tape measure on all the u bolts as I was tightening them :grin:

Your signal readings are pretty decent for 60cms dish - have you tried moving the LNB focus distance ,,, not that it answers the Tube play though. BTW i couldn't make heads or tails of the LED readings either.
All the best with the shite weather bud.

Got to say mate I was surprised at the signal readings, even more so with the shibo weather.
Not tried the lnb, will try giving it a tweak weather permitting.
Had a dose of that flu last month, put me on my ass for nearly a week so any crap weather = council telly and iptv :grin:

BTW tis. My dark motor had 2 scales on the motor bracket on one side the scale was Elevation and on the otherside was Latitude ,, you need Latitude Scale. was confused by this myself so worth checking if yours as both scales.
Yup not sat. weather today. Lol

Elevation scale reading is a different scale to your Latitude reading unless you've converted it into Degrees / Minutes /Seconds.
ie. my latitude is 52.6999 : elevation = 52 / 41 /56
Also i just set it to 52.699 on the bracket never subtracted anything and is spot on thoughout the Arc.

My mistake Patch.
Although it is marked elevation it is a latitude scale.
The attached file is for an older model than my 'intelligent' but the info is the same.
Check out pages 1,2 and 8

Google Dishpointer on pc and locate your home and whatever it says in Degrees thats exactly what you set the motor bracket scale too ( it shouldn't be to much of difference than mine ).
South Yorkshire should be about 54.xxxx
Also should have mentioned to also use the same settings Lat./Long. you found from Dishpointer in your Receiver .

Thanks to those who have tried to help me.
So after hours of pishing in the wind I have cracked it.
Last weekend I ordered a TM2600 which I fitted yesterday morning to replace the Dark Motor.
After slight adjustments to the dish elevation and the motor on the pole here's what I've got -

39e=82% snr on vix signal finder
28.2=100%
19.2=82%
16=40%
13=88%
9=84%
1.9=70%
0.8=74%
5=92%

What I'm struggling with now is the epg.
Looking at CrossEPG I've updated the Rytec providers and gone into XMLTV providers but what the feck do I enable for the above sats ?
Or is something better than CrossEPG ?
