Can a splitter suddenly fail when it's been working fine since day 1, which is a long time ago?? My splitter isn't branded, so I'll give that a swap out to see if it makes any difference.

I've had about 7 or 8 splitters in 9 years so I'd say yes, they can and do fail with annoying regularity, although I've no idea why they do as there's little inside them that can fail...probably just some kind of corrosion going on.
If you have a Screwfix near you, they sell Labgear for about a fiver, these are one of the best types for cable

Male sure your line, if it's a CWS line, is in newcamd.list, or if it's a C or N line, in CCcam.cfg file.
put box into standby, then off at the socket, turn the router off at socket too for one minute, then power on the router.
once it's fully rebooted, power on the box, then go to softcam panel and restart the softcam by pressing the green button.
If this doesn't have any effect, it's probably the line, try a new test from the request thread
It is a C line, I turned the router off for a few mintues as well the box, restarted them both as well as the softcam, and still the same. It's really strange, if I change channels, it works fine for 12 seconds, before freezing again, as well as obviously when I restart the softcam

There appear to be a few people affected by freezing channels today. It's not build specific, it could be your line but it could be as mentioned the splitters etc or even virgin doing works or something.

Hi, i have a zgemma H2H with the grog build pre installed and iptv provided. Tuner A is set to Teesside, unfortunately my area is just outside and does not receive Virgin. How do i get the FTA chanels for my area? Want it for local tv channels mainly.

Hi, been using the build for a few months now. However, just lately when i turn the box on sometimes i get the attached error? Today I got it every time i pressed EPG (may of been coincidence). Any ideas how i could fix this? thanks

Sorry your image isn't very clear and I'm struggling to read the error its logging.

1. what box are you using?
2. when did you last update/reflash grogbuild?
3. is your box in standby or powered off when you get this error?

Just a quick update today for the H2, H2H and H52tc releases of the build. There have been some minor changes to the top picks script, unfortunately in previous releases when you 'restore settings' the new script was overwritten by the old, I have sorted this in the latest builds.

It does mean some who haven't updated their build in a long time will no longer get the toppicks images or the 4 images at the top of the menu if using a v-skin.

So i have tried to scan for FTA channels on Tuner A, a number of channels are shown as found, I saved but still no picture. I dont get it, am i doing something wrong?

in that case, press the menu button and select Setup -> Service Searching -> Autobouquets Maker -> Providers and set Virgin to no and then press the green button to save. now run the scan

That has stopped the failed scan. After scan it came in with 160 video and 45 radio or something like that, but i still dont understand how to view these channels. I only want freesat for local tv, happy to view everything else in iptv.
EPG blank now also, does that need updating? probably set to the cable that was pre installed.

You should be able to select the channel from the epg and/or enter the channel number.

Have you got a usb set up and mounted as /media/hdd ? if so press the green button and select epg importer. Now press the blue button (sources). Scroll down and select Rytec UK Sat/Virgin XMLTV (or similar) and any relevant option that appears, ie (UK/Ireland - Freesat(xy) and UK/Ireland FTA(xz) and then press the green button to save. Now press the yellow button and it should download the epg info and save it on the usb stick.
