Scrapping IPTV - Going with BT TV

It's a sad day....I'm giving up on IPTV. The missus has had enough of boxes, remotes, updates, apps and all the grief!!

She has taken out a deal with BT for £20 month. Gives us all the sly channels we watch, plus BT sport in 4k. Don't need Sly movies, I use Terrarium for that.

I will miss football though....but she said I can pi55 off paying for IPTV just to get that.

Are there any decent free apps for getting football.....even just the US channels, I'm not fussed about Sly Sports. I just want a quiet life.

She is happy to pay double the price for TV that just works she says, I just want to switch it on and watch TV, not load an app and search for a backup when it stops working etc.

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Dam! You should have just got your sat box back least it includes BT Sport for now. Oh well £20 is pretty decent for a service that should be a lot more stable.

I know, but the kids like Disney and Nick Jr...things like that, which this deal includes, so at least they will be happy. At the end of the day if the wife and kids are happy that's all that matters......soppy or what :)

Plus, like you say it will be stable, hopefully no random looping or audio out of sync.

That's it anything is better than IPTV. When cable goes I will probably pay for it. Like I've said a couple of times it's great if you know any family/friends with Sky GO even if you ask them to get it it's like 5 quid a month and you can get Sky Sports on PS4/PS3/Tablets and Phones that will be my backup thanks to my wonderful Mother! haha

I have been getting football on sportbox app, plus live lounge has sport, kids, and movies which all work well.

you can use mobdro or similar for the odd footy match, or kodi

Check out Live NetTV.
Always preferred it to Mobdro but like all free streams it can be a bit hit and miss and comes with the odd advert.
Keep an eye on Bein 11 and 12, whatever Sly and BT are showing live is usually on there.

Mobdro seems to always be off now during match times, but i agree with jethro, live net has worked any time i checked, which has only been a few times , but good luck dt99, hope it works out well for you.

I will have a look round and see what's out there, must be something half decent. Like @TheSource said, I can try and tap up a mate with Sky go, I know a few people, so I could always get Sly Sports that way.....better than nothing.

no more iptv for me either, fed up of channel chasing when events are on, jerking, freezing and all the hassle its beat me too

I think if cable eventually goes, there will be alot of people going down the same road rather than taking an iptv sub.

Whats the issue with IPTV? I'm thinking of switching over from using my Zgemma H2H to an Formuler Z7+.

There is nothing majorly wrong with it, so long as you understand that it isn't perfect. I'm just fed up with with the effort of it all. Is this channel working, no hang on let me find a backup, now it's out of sync, reboot box and reboot router.

It doesn't bother me, but wife and kids just want to put the TV on and watch something, they don't want the problems. A 5 year old can't understand why she can't just put Disney on and it will work, so then I have to mess around rebooting stuff.

Find a good supplier and it will be fine, but always remember even the best suppliers will have problems, anyone who says theirs is perfect all of the time is talking out of their backside.

I'd have to agree with you there... No different with using the enigma 2 boxes and lines. The other downside is the cost of IPTV - why so expensive in comparison to sat and VM lines??

I have BT TV as it came with a broadband deal.......I always end up switching over to the IPTV as the quality of the streaming channels on BT & Talk talk is dire!
I pay £120 a year for my line with all the bells n whistles but I have a backup which is £30 a year...........surely it's worth keeping a line with that sort of cost :/

Iptv works to a degree. Taking in to account 90% of tv I watch is freeview.
3.00pm kick offs over last 18 months
Have improved vastly, as has EPL.
Providers have done a great job jumping through hoops for us . To watch a game. Knowing the consequences if caught.

Vod is almost the same. Irritating when you get to the end and it freezes or loops.. uk channels not on freeview. EG: Gold or comedy central looping. or won't load.. ( frustrating)

Sporting events over subscribed. So you have friends over for a bbq. and eventually you give up.. and throw the remote through your new B&O TV..

On a ligher note iptv is reasonable prices and finding a good provider is essential..
There are good and utterly bad providers imo. The ones that take the money. And then state it must be your equipment.. to the providers who reply .and are clued up.to actually take the time to eliminate issues step by step..

overall course it's worth the occasional inconvenience..

There is a thread on formuler z7+
Only bad thing regards this stb is EPG.. mine worked then it didn't..
It is being addressed by formuler but still has not been addressed fully.

Myiptv on z7+ is sleek and quick . But EPG can be frustrating. The record option & timeshift works well z7 will live up to expectations eventually..

Completely agree with stuss, slick interface but terrible EPG loading speed
I bought one to be my main box but it soon got relegated to my office
