Tune failed on sat?

Hi guys

Just concerned as this morning sly was working ok but all of sudden no channel is clearing, they are all black including FTA channels. Get a message "tune failed" for every channel.

Took the sat feeds out and inserted them back in and are very tight but still same message.

Could the tuner have become faulty or the cables?

VM cable works fine though.

I have no idea what has happened all of sudden for sly not to work. Really can't afford another box.

Any help will be much appreciated.

How would I do manual scan on sat tuner grog? Sorry for the stupid question. Just havent done one for very long time.

Done ABM scan and still nothing.

It is strange as why cable is clearing but nothing on sat including FTA isnt clearing all of a sudden. Something has happened but no idea what.

menu-setup-service searching-autobouqetsmaker-start scan
I would check with manual scan first, menu -> setup -> service searching ->Manual scan (or automatic scan but takes longer)
If that works then do an abm scan.

Does ABM find the channels?
It might be worth deleting the bouquets and update config - both options on ABM page, and then do a scan

it could be that your satelite dish has moved mate, have you got a old sly box lying around you can test the wire with to make sure it's not a problem with the box?

Done manual scan but nothing happens.

Also delete bouqets and done ABM scan and again nothing happens. Get a message "timeout for tuner lock"

Could reflashing box make any difference?

Need sat to work as mainly family watches it.

Unforetuenly not mate.

So am screwed then.

Could be dish, lnb and sat cables have become faulty or box is faulty.

Was working perfectly yesterday so lost as to what has happened.

do you have friends or family with a dish that you could take your box to and test it, if it works then that would eliminate the box being the issue

Not comfortable taking to friends house as they have all legit boxes and not aware of box I have. Family is too far away from me as well.

Could the sat tuners be caput?

Is there nothing else I can do to fix this? Reflashing or anything?

if the box is not getting anything from the tuners then it's unlikely to make a difference, but there is no harm in reflashing to put your mind at rest.

The tuners may have gone but also your lnb or cables may be the issue.

But how would tuners stop working all of a sudden as like I said was working fine yesterday.

Would I need a new lnb, dish and sat feeds then?

I am utterly lost what to do. Havent got the money for a new box let alone dish, lnb and sat feeds.

it's unlikely everything has gone, first you really need to test your box on another dish, that would tell you if it's the box or not, either that or ask a friend you could test their box at yours to see if it gets a signal.

Ok will have to find someone, as they all live a distance away from me.

If it is indeed the box and sat tuners have gone will technomate do anything as cable tuner still works? Not sure how long their warranty is.

Stupid question but to get signal both lnb and sat feeds have to be working correctly right? If one is faulty you obviously wont get a signal?

Don't know mate, you will need to ask

Yes, if just one is faulty then you won't get anything, check that f-connectors are firmly fitted on each end of cable etc, it could be something that simple

has anyone been working on your house? - window cleaner, scaffolder etc who could have knocked the dish out of alignment?
also check exterior cables haven't been damaged

Ye unscrewed the cables multiple times and made sure the f connectors were tights when screwed back in. But again same thing.

Did have tune failed message some time ago and just unscrewed the sat feeds and screwed back in and worked fine.

Just need to find someone to try box on their dish.

Either way it will be an expense to fix the issue. How much is what is really concerning me and am really worried.

Did have a window cleaner come last week but sat was working after he left though.

So if dish goes out of alignment that would screw up signal coming to the box? How exactly would I know if the dish is out of alignment as honestly looks the same as always?

Exterior cables look fine. Dont seem to be any holes in the cables themselves.

Have you tried the advice here?

I went on signal finder and showed signal on both sat tuners. So then checked sat bouqets and channels including FTA channels and worked.

However once again have tune failed message on channels.

Why did it randomly work for a bit and then all channels showing the "tune failed" message?
