Tune failed on sat?

Best bet would be to do what Pablo suggests first and if its still giving the tune failed message, then Cactikid could be spot on, as i said earlier in the thread a mate of mine had a similar problem, his dish is on a scaffold pole at the bottom of his garden, when his next door neighbour cut down some of their trees and various branches, his sat channels were back again, and have stayed ok, this was a few months ago.

Re cut the coax at the box end and dish end at the LNB.

If the box works in another house then it's not the tuner. It's a signal issue.

If you still get tune failed after recutting and connecting the F connectors, your dish is probably out of wack.

Is the dish old and rusty ? as it may need replacing. They are about £20 on Ebay.

was that a zgemma lol

I wondered with those lazer pens could one mount one on sat dish or lnb to show where signal is coming from?

So likely the box isnt faulty?

Just concerned of cutting the sat feeds at the box and LNB and putting new ones on as know will screw it up.

Have replaced old connectors with new ones and same issue still.

I have big trees on my road but speaking to council and said cant cut or trim any of them. Maybe it is a line of sight problem but not sure how to check.

From checking no rust on dish and its a sly minidish. Have had it for couple of decades.

Did you make a back up of your previous image that worked? If so try restoring it

No its a very old image mate.

Pointless reflashing if physical problem tbh.

The box isn't faulty because it works at someone else's house.
Those cables i posted earlier, you can get 10m ones for about £7 with the ends already on.
screw one end to the LNB and the other into the box, clip it to the wall in place of the old one, job done.
If you think it's a line of sight issue, replacing the cables won't do any good.
Can you take a photo from a distance of the dish and the trees and then we can make a judgment

Gone on that but what am I looking for?

If you reply to post 81 maybe some kind soul will be close enough to fix it for you. First part of post code, town, city anything will help

enter all details in there and choose 28.2 on other list then search will bring up your house on photo and where line of sight is.

Ye I have done that and just shows a long green line mate. Not sure what that means.

Birmingham.

Dont really want to give full address, postcode mate for obvious reasons. Hope you understand.

Stupid questions so apologies in advance.

If LNB was faulty and if Dish had moved then wouldnt that mean no signal whatsoever as this week for 2-3 days sat was working before tune failed message came up again?

Also in regards to line of sight issue would the dish be pointing upwards to the sky to get signal to the satellite as trees on road are big enough but if dish needs to be pointing upwards to get signal would line of sight be blocked still?

Again sorry just not that good with getting how this all works.

your lnb port may be faulty, but what is more likely is cable itself, it may be cracked or kinked & when rain gets in it can cause what you describe, interminnent loss of signal , but not permanent, if there was cable damage & the earth, (the copper braid) comes in contact with the core, same issue signal loss. How many cables have you coming from lnb? could you try box on another cable?

the line showing should be where the signal is going to to view 28.2 and will show things in its line of sight trees or buildings zoom in for a closer look

Man my mind is so fried with all of this lol. So many damn things that could be causing this.

Thought maybe would be just the sat feeds or at worst line of sight issue.

Have two cables from lnb.

Tried the box on relatives dish and seemed to be fine but didnt have time to test for longer though.

you've gone thru most of the causes, the box worked on another dish, I'd bet that any day you have rain you have problems, the cables do wear thru time. the main thing is not to stress, you will sort it out
