network id

Hello
In in astley in wigan my id is 40968 which is preston ive found my id from my old virgin box wigan 40967 doesnt wkrk for me

Correct net ids can only be got from a working box as the one in the attic has more than likely advanced to a new location.

is anyone aware of this, I have done a box for my uncle in wigan put it on net id 40967 and put the line in, ive then give it to him and talked him through how to do the scan, after the scan he is only getting channels 1-5. ive asked him to restart the the soft cam and that doesn't work, then I've asked him to check if his line details are showing in the softcam panel screen and they are not. So does doing a scan for a new area wipe the line, when i first set this box up it I did it in my manchester network and added the line and it worked fine. I guess I will have to go to his house and add the line and see if that works. unless the server is doing something strange.

No, changing the netid has no effect on the line. But simply changing the netid won't work. Once he's changed netid from Manchester to Wigan, he needs to perform a scan again, you said above he's done a scan but if he's in wigan and scanning MCR netid, it won't work.
If he's changed netid to his area and tried a scan, he may not be connected to VM, either the splitter or cables from it could be duff, or if he's using a cable that isn't connected, it's game over, does he have VM BB or any other service from them?

No he doesn't have any VM service now, My first fear was he may have been disconnected at the cab but then if he is getting channels 1-5 he must surely still be connected? So I thought it maybe his line. Now I am thinking it is his ethernet connection.

no, if he's getting 1 - 5 he's connected to VM ok, if he's not clearing channels, it's 99% certain his line has expired or otherwise disabled, try a test line from the request thread

Wigan code area
But my network id is preston 40968 as is my neighbours who has virgin tv
