Tune failed on sat?

Would be great if possible. As I simply cant afford to pay £40-£80 to an installer havent got that sort of money on me.

Did ask my brother if he could do check and swap cables out but said no because hes busy.

Will have to try it myself somehow soon then. How much worse can it get lol.

Labgear cable i posted should be fine, Labgear is usually decent stuff.
If you know how to screw a cable onto the back of the box, you're half way there.
All you need to do then is screw the other end onto the lnb.
The ends are already on

No worries mate.

Thanks for the link and advice.

Sounds easier enough...hopefully.

Yes as above i got these cables and a couple of splitters awhile back, at Pablos suggestion and they fixed the problem that i had, although for me it was only certain cable channels that were giving me some trouble.

Only need sly for free sat mate dont really care if remaining channels go. Alot FTA channels arent on cable and for my family. They keep stressing me out but worst they could do is ask me to fix this as aint technical in anything no matter what I read or watch to help never sinks in my brain.

Anyway thanks all of you. Sorry for being so stupid and sorry if not easy to help.

Will try my best to do this but not optimistic.
If you only want FTA channels why don't you just get a decent freeview box and just plug your ariel lead into it? You can get them with HD and some are recordable

Afternoon guys

Since my last post still not sorted this issue out as been really unwell as is the case for number of years now.

I have not got new sat cable as an engineer said it most likely is line of sight issue than cable so that put me off from spending on cable and it not working.

Now I am getting tuner lock message when I tried to ABM scan. Done automatic and manual scan so many times but satellite channels are not showing at all anymore.

I only got a bit better but this utter crap is really driving me nuts once again.

Spoke to local engineers in my area and all of them want close to £100 to fix the issue which I simply have not got and nor am I willing to burn. Better of throwing it in a gutter.

My parents watch freesat and mainly asian channels with a handful not on normal freeview.

At a stage where I just want to throw this box away now. Its so much grief trying to get satellite to come on. Story of my life.

There is no way forward with this situation.
the dish needs bolting to the chimney to get above the trees blocking it in it's current position, or mounting on a pole - either will require new cables, as the existing ones won't be long enough.
You cannot do what needs doing due to ill health and you are not prepared to pay someone else to do it - we have reached an impasse so my advice it to disconnect the box and forget about it.

forget about abm for the moment and can you do an automatic scan that should pull in 28.2 with over 900 channels?

I have done automatic scan multiple times but no sly channels are showing at all anymore and signal finder is showing tuner A and B as 0

How do you know the trees are blocking the signal?

Ill health is not an excuse mate, I just cant do these things physically like you and others can.

Its not that I am not prepared to pay an installer, I havent got the money to may the extortionate robbing prices I being quoted. Also with sly dead it makes no sense paying an installer so much money as only handful of channels work on sly. Only really need for channels for the family but the amount I have been quoted is just insane.

So like you said may as well throw the box in the bin then.

I didn't say it was an excuse, you are unwell so cannot go scrambling around on a roof and you can't pay someone else to do it.

I don't know the trees are blocking the signal but it worked fine all winter until the leaves appeared on the trees and you said an engineer has said it's probably line of sight.

You only have two options:
DIY
pay someone else

You can't do either.

if it can't be done, for whatever reason, it can't draw a line under it, move on.If the engineer cost doesn't offset the use of remaining channels ,so be it. Another option, not as good as sat, try IPTV maybe, or if you're in cabled area try vm sub

I could care less about satellite, its only for my parents, they tried cable and IPTV before but really struggled. They are used to sly and the numbering, hence why I really wanted to get this sorted for them but let them down again.

I don't think you let anyone down m8, you tried your best,if the options offered were unviable that's it. I'm not keen on iptv personally, but I've seen it set up in sly style bouquets with sly numbers I think, as I say,not a big fan me, but I'm sure there's someone here that will point you in the direction of a skin that will provide this for you. I agree iptv can be hit & miss

Dont know mate not interested in IPTV as of yet.

Only wanted freesat on sly to work as there are some channels which simply dont show on IPTV or freeview.

What area are you in? We are scattered all over the country, I wonder if there is someone on here who would be willing to take a look for you? It could be your cable, it could be your LNB, or it could be trees - it might even be the copper centre on the box end of the cable (seen that a few times)

Asking for help is not a problem on TK hopefully someone near can look and fix this issues for you and second pair of eyes and brains can see something different?

I asked this same question last time and was prepared to travel from notts to help him and got a reluctant answer of Birmingham, would have been a freeby by the way, Post 74. Post 81 missing!!!
