V8s front usb for epg storage?

Is it possible to use the front usb for epg storage if i change the epg to xmlt update ans get a more full epg guide? I tried to set it but then when i turned the box back on it didn't pick up the usb until i took it out and put it back in.
Im using the rear port for a dongle. Thanks.
