Hi, guys. Being a bit of a lazy/simpleton type I like things easy........... Does anyone know if WooshBuild would work on the Duo+2 with Vix.

Just seems a nicer interface and things setup easier. Iv'e an older Skybox F5 that could REALLY benefit from it too, F5s are crappy!

Wooshbuild is currently being developed for other boxes including some of the VU range.
It will be on OPENATV and not vix tho.
You cannot alter firmware source for any of the openbox type models so that will never happen.
 
Thanks benijofar, I'd figured the openbox was a dead end, I just use it in the Den now anyway. Is there a particular reason WooshBuild would only be on OPENATV, my basic knowledge/search says Vix is faster?
 
That is down to the developer, he prefers ATV, if someone else wishes to duplicate all the hard , long hours put into this project, then something similar will become available for VIX, and not before then unfortunately.
For the record though, it would seem to depend on the specific box how quick/slow VIX/ATV are, I have an sf8 and it definitely prefers VIX, but after using a h2s on ATV (Wooshbuild), I don't see how VIX could be any quicker on it.

Personal preference.
Wooshbuild started life as an openatv project as that offered OTA updating which VIX does not as they consider Zgemmas to be clones !
This allowed the build to be versatile in the way the build was made.
Openatv has less restrictions on what can be done with it and do not decide what may or may not be of use to the end user unlike the Vix team.
Endless arguements and debates between the two sources but certainly for the time being Openatv will be the source firmware for all Wooshbuild Projects.
 
Ok thanks, that explains a bit more about the different image softwares etc. Looks like I may have to experiment with multiboot for a while as it seems to take me a good while to setup the Duo with all the necessary files and getting it running. Tried to go to Blackhole some months ago but had to revert back as the family were whining about missing Coronation street! They seem to think these boxes are just plug and play like a sky box but don't understand the amount of work that people put in to get them to this stage. I try to tell them that sky have hundreds of people and many thousand hours invested to get a box idiot proofed.......... Our boxes have groups of clever people doing it part time, there will obviously be issues and difference of opinion........ Many thanks to all.

good question, maybe someone with a bit better knowledge may be able to answer but so far things I have seen all point to the gen after the duo device and nothing to the DUO.

I have the DUO so I hope it is
