Can't download plugins on a Zgemma H2S with OpenVix

Hi All. I have a Zgemma H2S. I use OpenVix (which I downloaded last November). I have never really needed to download any plugins (I just use two of the six that came with the original image), but whenever I did scan the page to try to see what was available to download, it didn't seem that I could download them.

However I now need to download a plugin, but I am just seeing a blank screen and this message (which I have seen in the past): "A Background update check is in progress. Please wait a few minutes and try again".

Anyone know why I can't download or even see what useful plugins are available to download?

Yes, you will be able to download plugins no problem.
You can't do software updates on a Zgemma because, as siilver said, OpenViX don't support them.
Personally I go into Backup Manager and add all the extra files, plugins and skins and just do a fresh flash and restore.
I don't think you would get away with that with an image from last November though.
You could try though, it will only be 10 minutes wasted if it doesn't work.

Thanks for the advice and info Willo. At this point I can go a couple of ways. Last November I watched Geeky Stuff's YouTube video on how to set up the H2S, it was a great video I followed it along, and flashed with the image he had on a link in the you tube video and the H2S was set up grand, with everything I needed. From reading Tech Kings over the months I have noticed people saying to give Albatross plugin a go, so I was trying to download that. Also, when I read Tech Kings, lots of people recommend Wooshbuild as an alternative to OpenVix (they say its simple to use). Now, I don't know in what way, as OpenVix seemed to do everything I needed up to now.

Now as I was saying Willo, thanks for the info, but I think i'll have to do some research on Tech Kings to understand all of the info/instruction! I get that I need to download the latest OpenVix on my PC and FTP it to my Zgemma, and I would then be able to download plugins on the Zgemma. But I will have to research whether I need to overwrite my old Flash file from last November (which I have been using whenever I get a Zgemma lock up and my line is no longer working - sometimes happens after a power cut here in the countyside in Ireland) - I will need to research whether I am adding to the old Flash file, or creating a new one with the new files I am downloading. Or else just get this famously simple Wooshbuild and go with that (don't know yet what Whooshbuild gives you over OpenVix etc.?).

If you only want a working box to watch TV on I would install Wooshbuild.
If you want to learn about enigma2 and what makes the box tick, go with a fresh image from ATV or ViX. (more support and most popular).
