Mag box vs fire stick

Hi
I have a firestick that I use for iptv (perfect player)
Get a fair bit of buffering
Will I notice a difference with a mag box? Was looking at a 256
Thanks in advance for replies

I am new to this... are mag 256 okay? Or would you recommend anything else? It is just really for IPTV ... mainly footy

Magboxes are the market leader so you will not go wrong there,I suggest you stay away from ebay as loads of clones on there

Hello guys, looking for a MAG box with the channels, where would I get me one of those?
You would have to buy a mag box then subscribe to an iptv service don't buy anything preloaded with iptv use the forum sponsors like amazon if you buy preloaded won't be long till the iptv is turned off

I have a new 4K firestick and running stbemu pro on it. Have been using a mag 256 up to this and find the firestick equally as good and it also plays the 4K vod which the mag doesn’t.
Thumbs up for the firestick

Just set up a 4k Firestick and have to agree, it's working great. It's certainly more nimble than my MAG322 and is also happier with epgs containing very long lists of items.
I'm assuming it has more available memory to fully store the epg without sometimes having to download more pages.
The only slight snag is the lack of coloured menu buttons on the very sparse remote but stbemu does allow buttons to be remapped. So far I've set the play/pause button to emulate the green button when given a long press.
I understand some folks have had problems with the HD firestick remote controls gobbling up batteries which is one of the reasons why I forked out a few extra quid for the 4k stick, even though I don't yet have a 4k TV.
Probably also worth the extra for the nippy performance and future proofing.

Just use the TV remote to control the firestick

Going back to the OP post, Id be more inclined to guess they have a not too great IPTV sub, and that changing box might not make things any better.

My closed group IPTV provider has been about for 4 years, and Ive used them for 2, with the amount of issues encountered being on one hand.
And, over that time Ive used even 1st gen Firesticks with 1080p 60fps US feeds perfectly, so the buffering will almost certainly be down to the providers feed.

My set up just now is a 1st gen Fire stick, 2 nd gen (with Alexa voice), a 4k stick, and two 2nd gen Fire tv 4k boxes (the good ones with the usb, microSD and ethernet sockets) - all with zero buffering.

Agree with all of the above, would suggest problems in the main arise from poor suppliers. I currently have a firestick 2nd gen on stb emu with wi fi connection, a Smart Stb app on Samsung TV, hard wired, and a Mag 256 on home plugs and I get virtually no buffering at all. The worst I get is 1 or 2 losses during a very popular football match such as Man United but nothing at all most of the time and vod has never buffered. That is from 3 different suppliers (dont ask me why - its reducing to 2 soon).
