I as having a problem with Ipab on mt Zgemma star 2s and I was trying to put the latest version of wooshbuild on it, I tried putting the wooshbuild on several usb sticks to no avail . It still boots to Ipab. I have tried now to default the box to factory settings and now it seems to be caught in a loop. Restarting going to 00 and is constantly rebooting now. Is there a way I can FTP with fileZilla to delete a file or something. HELP 56 Duke

Factory reset should be removed from these boxes as you have just found out. This is what happens when people use it and the only way to rectify is a fresh flash. Basically it nukes everything on the box Zgemmas are really picky when it comes to usb sticks download this http://www.techkings.org/resources/preparing-flash-drives.41/ it contains a tool for formatting the usb correctly and flashing instructions. Download the image you want for your star 2s unzip it and copy the folder inside to usb stick once you have formatted the stick using the tool I linked. Generally speaking smaller the usb the better with these boxes

Hi, I have downloaded that and formatted the usb and it telling me the same thing I afraid. It dosent go into FLSH mode ,just rebooting ,gets to 00 and returns to 49 and goes up to 00 and is in a loop.

Have a look in the files on the usb and see if there is one that says noforce if so rename to force and should automatically flash you are flashing from the back usb not the front

.As above also try different usb formatted to fat 32 using bootice. Instead of a build try flashing latest Openatv 6.1 for the 2s available here http://images.mynonpublic.com/openatv/current/index.php?open=zgemmas2s download extract the zip and go to the folder it contains and find the file called noforce that bazfc mentions right click and rename it force exit out of folder and copy folder to usb. Turn off box at back and place usb in rear usb port, turn on from the rear and don't touch anything watch to see if flash appears on front if it does give it 5-10 mins to do it's business. If it does flash ok and you wish to go back to woosh try the same stick and procedure with woosh folder. You may well have to try multiple usb sticks and different images/builds to get it to flash I hate zgemmas when it comes to flashing

Never really had a problem with flashing apart from as you say usb and zgemma can be temperamental

Every other receiver I own I have no issues flashing first time every time. Only the one zgemma I own ever gives me hassle :mad:

turn box off,
insert usb into rear port
turn the box on, using the rear button,
when the display lights up you need to press the front power button.
it should then FLSH

Tried the latest Openatv 6.1 and it took the box out of the loop and have flashed Wooshbuild 7. Thanks for all the help

Great result thanks for letting us know. Strange how things like an image change get things moving again

Hi all.

Have been following the steps outlined above in order to flash a Star 2s receiver with a 16Gb USB, as it is the only one I have. I follow the instructions but the receiver goes straight into 'BOOT' and not 'FLASH'. What am I doing wrong?
Please help!
Thank you

Reformat the usb again.
Make sure the file loaded is zgemma with sh1 files within.
Put in rear of box and power on and hold the power button at front ?

Thank you for your prompt reply! I have done what you instruct several times without success. I not sure whether a 4GB USB will do it but I shall try that and perhaps a different file.
Thanks again.

use the smallest USB you can
I actually have an old 256mb one that I keep for the sole purpose of flashing,
I'm so glad I never succumbed to the many times I almost binned it,,,,,,,

Oh, ok... I thought that the USB had to be a 4GB capacity as a minimum! Thank you for the wonderful info and I shall be onto this first thing in the morning, after wasting all evening trying to sort it.

the actual file is very small,
right click it and look at properties,,, :grimacing:
plain OpenVix is only 79mb !!!!!!
so even a build isnt going to be massively bigger

That is great to know. Can you recommend a good and stable OpenVix build, please? Is the 6.1 available from Zgemma website itself sufficient? If not, can you point me in the direction of the WooshBuild 7 file?
Thank you and @benijofar for your kind help!

I would NOT recommend using OpenViX on a zgemma
its NOT a supported image, and is at best a patched image
a few folks on here do very good builds for zgemma, woosh , grog , to name but 2, have a look in the DOWNLOADS link at the top of the page,
make sure its the correct image for your box model,,,,,,, VERY IMPORTANT
or you could use plain Openatv from zgemma website
