The Beast from the East might have absconded with Storm Emma but it appears that more inclement weather is just around the corner.
Met Eireann, the national forecaster, has been waiting for sometime to release the weather forecast for the weekend and in particular St. Patrick’s Day but tonight they say we’re in for more snow on both Saturday and Sunday itself with warnings of severely cold weather and multiple snow showers.
Met Eireann said:
“Friday: Cool, with a mix of cloud and bright spells, with scattered showers. Max. 7 to 11 Celsius, in moderate southeast winds. Friday night will becoming breezy, with freshening southeast to east winds. Many areas will become dry, but some showers will move in to eastern coastal counties, mainly of rain or sleet. Min. 0 to 4 Celsius, with a risk of frost in sheltered parts of the north and east.
St. Patrick’s weekend will be very cold. Saturday, St. Patrick’s Day will be dry in many areas, with bright spells, but scattered snow showers will occur, mainly in eastern coastal counties and along the south coast. Breezy, with moderate to fresh easterly winds. Max. temperatures will range from just 1 or 2 degrees in the north and east to 5 or 6 along west and southwest coasts. Saturday night will be very cold and frosty, with scattered snow showers in the eastern half of the country, but mainly dry elsewhere.
Sunday: Still very cold, with scattered snow showers, most of them in Leinster and the eastern half of Munster, but well scattered elsewhere, with sunny spells. Max. 1 to 4 Celsius. Very cold and frosty again on Sunday night, but mostly dry.”
