Legality of reselling broadband? Would that count as taxable income?

Hi!

I live in a small village and I'm one of the extremely few houses cabled by Virgin Media. I'm currently on their VIVID 350 package and it's amazingly fast. I am thinking of reselling the internet I get to some people in my village with desperately poor internet access. I'm wondering if anyone here knows anyone who does something similar that can point me to the right places to do something like this legally? I am an experienced network engineer and could easily set something like this up, my only concerns are the legalities of it. My other concern is the finance - I am assuming the money from it will be taxable even if I make a loss? I've checked sites like this salary tool (https://www.after-tax.co.uk) but still not sure about it, and was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction to getting something like this done legally.

Thanks!

This may not be the best place as nobody on here does anything legally !!!!
Your first port of call will be to check if you are permitted to resell your service as that will be the item which dictates everything beyond that.

First off you would more than likely be in breach of VM terms and conditions Secondly you could be opening a can of worms it is ok saying you want to supply neighbors with B.B. but how are you going to (A) decide who gets what and (B) what are you going to charge them. Also if you had say 5 other houses running on your connection how can you control what they download. Having been a VM customer for many years if your Gb download suddenly goes through the roof I think you would soon get either a visit or a call from them. Lastly if you have neighbors who also are lucky enough to have VM legily you tampering with you connection could affect there connection.

My concern would be the content they view / download / upload - on paper you have viewed, uploaded or downloaded.

A nice thought even if you made a couple of quid, but VM telling you off would be nothing compared to a knock on the door from the law due to nasty stuff being downloaded that you had no clue about.

Maybe he could flog a VPN with his homemade service and cash in on that too?!

If you are on unlimited data and can set up everything via a vpn then just crack on is my advise,Keep to just a few customers and get paid in cash
