So a friend of mine moved house yesterday, his new house has a fixed skydish with 2 cables coming from outside to connect to his skybox, however there is a length of cable wire going from his living room and into his kitchen, the girl that used to live in the house told him it was connected into a tv in the kitchen allowing them to view sky in that room without a 2nd box, and yes it would be whatever the box is showing in the living room would also be on the kitchen tv, i am just wanting to know what he needs to do now to set this up for himself as he has asked me, i havent seen it yet so i am not too sure myself, but i know he will need to get the signal to the 2nd tv from his skybox in his living room, any suggestions appreciated.

It's likely coaxial cable coming from the RF output on the skybox to the kitchen TV, you would need a TV that still has analogue on it & and a Skybox that has an RF output, if there is no RF output you can use a Sky Box I/O Link.

Similar to my thinking, i remember years ago and a few houses ago for me , i connected my downstairs tv to one upstairs, in those days the analogue service was still mainly in use, it was just a matter of running another coaxial cable to upstairs, using a wee two way splitter from a hardware store , which only cost a few quid, so same principle for him then.

Mercury RF Modulator, scart lead and coax running between the two rooms with push ariel connectors.
Channel 68 was the channel that cleared the picture for me.

Your sat box will need a scart connection at the back.

Proper old school :grin::grin::grin:

Or just buy a cheap Openbox, homeplugs and run a cable in from the dish to the kitchen, you can then run both boxes independantly you should be able to use the same line in both boxes. So you can switch channels.

Make sure he has the r.f switched on in the settings section off the sky box If he
Wants to power the other box

ok thanks to everyone for the replys, he has suckered me in to helping him out with a bit of decorating, so i will try and have a look and hopefully get it sorted then, thinking of just trying it the old way and take it from there, thanks again everyone, much appreciated.
