BT Master Socket Query

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, was trying to find the most relevant forum.

18m ago I signed up with BT and requested to move the Master socket from the kitchen to the lounge (wanted the router to be closer so I could run ethernet to TV etc). However I am now looking to rearrange the lounge and the TV will be on another wall.

What is the best solution so that I can connect the router directly into the TV? I dont want to run unsightly wires through the lounge. I have resigned up with BT and they will send engineer free of charge so I am thinking about asking for the master socket to be moved to the new location for the TV.

any thoughts/suggestions?

You don't have to have wires anywhere as willo said get them to put a new socket in you can have them anywhere you want dosnt have to be a specific place in your home if they tell you that tell them by law there is no obligation to have one put where you want

any ideas how they will connect the new socket? Will they use the wiring from existing master socket? The existing master socket is approx 1m away from the new location.

Do I ask for a new master socket or a new socket (is there even a difference?)

sorry for the dumb questions, first time doing this!

My master socket is in my hallway all they did is took a feed from outside on front of my house and ran it all way round to the back of my house where my living room is and put a new feed in mate ive got phone sockets all over my house 1 in my hall way 1 in my bedroom 1 in dining room and 1 in living room

interesting.

When I first got the master socket changed the openreach guy used the connection inside my house and then ran a connection from that through to the lounge to the new master socket location. I have part of this hidden behind sofa and the other half I have clipped ontop of the skirting.

The connection which enters my house is now covered up by my kitchen so that wont be an option..

If you tell them you might need the existing socket in the future they will just run a cable from the existing one to the new one.

If it is only 1Mt away why dont you just run a cat5 cable from the router to the TV. The chances are if open reach moves the socket they will just clip the cable to the skirting board anyway.
