Adam Rooney signs for Birmingham

New Birmingham City manager Chris Hughton has secured the signature of Ireland Under-21 international striker Adam Rooney.


Rooney, who scored 50 goals in Scotland over the last two seasons for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, has signed a two-year deal with Birmingham, who beat off opposition from a number of other Championship clubs.


Rooney becomes the fourth Irish member of Birmingham's senior squad which is captained by former Rep of Ireland international Stephen Carr and includes current international Keith Fahey and Cork's Colin Doyle.
