Blue Circle spinning, box lagging

Ive got an xtrend 8500 box with openvix on it and slyk.
It has a 1tb internal hd plus an 8gb stick.
lately ive noticed more and more the blue circle spinning in the top left and it starting to lag a lot
when changing channels etc, it used to be really quick.
Ive tried restoring it from a backup I made a while back but still no luck?

Have you updated to the latest version of ViX?
It might well be time to make a settings backup and flash the new 5.1.002.
There have been a fair few changes lately which could impact on the smooth running of the receiver.

OK thanks, Shouldnt I be able to update it straight from the box?

It's a new revision and it won't let you do a software update.
You can go into Image Manager and download it using the downloads button and then flash it.
Don't forget to make a settings backup in Backup Manager first.
When the box reboots after the flash, it will ask if you want to restore settings.
Just click 'yes' for settings and plugins.
 
Just done it, it seems ok atm but the skin has all changed, any idea how I get it back please?

the things i dont like about using restore settings is somethings might not be usable on latest image,i will always do a backup first and saving newcamd.list and mg_cfg or cccam to folder on pc first.
if brain is lazy take note of settings used on netid and other info to ease setting up.

where was your epg going to be stored?
 
Not sure re epg :)
I’ve updated now, altered the skin and edited the file to get the menu right. All seems ok.

I've got everything up and working OK but no tv guide under slyk-documetaries. Also the discovery channel doesn't Work?
I've run cross epgdownloader but still the same?
Anyone help Please?

have you selected the correct sources and tried a manual import of epg.?
 
I think I've just done a manual import, via setup,epg,crossepg,download now,
Would that be right?
How do I select sources, also wouldn't they have been there from my backup?

I dont know what your backup is
 
I backed up my settings before updating vix earlier today, all my setting seemed to be the same other than I didn't have the menu tabs for entertainment movies etc, I've sorted that, all else seems OK other than the channels missing in Documentaries.
