I remember reading somewhere that it's best to have a minimum speed of 2meg to run a satellite box.

If that is true would it then be right to presume running multiple boxes in the same house need a faster connection?

Yeah you probably will need faster if using multiple boxes as they'll all share the 2mb bandwidth so anything that's connected at the same time to the Internet, will split the 2mb between them

I can't see any reason for so much bandwidth, the box is reading a few bytes every couple of seconds and then a couple of MB for EPG download overnight. Figure I have read elsewhere was 20MB for the whole day. What is more important is that your connection is stable and that you have low latency to your key server.

as said stable connection is paramount , 2mb is fine even for a few boxes
dont use wifi tho or you may run into trouble

Bandwidth not important, ping is king as they say...as stable ping will see you ok, just don't saturate your upload as thats where you might struggle if your upload is low?
