Cable connections?

Hi everyone - I'm new here and just looking for some advice.
I've bought an Openbox S10 and am trying to set it up. During the week I set it up with my old sat cable and got up and running with a c line. When I visited my mate (who put me onto this) I noticed he could access more channels than me so when I got home I used the cable from my portable sat system and connected to another feed and found I got a load more channels. Do I need a new sat cable running from my LNB? Or am I using low quality cable and the portable cable is better?

Pls how many dishes are using? If two at what sr,freq and pol did use?

apparently the openbox is a bit funny with certain lnb's its to do with voltages or something, google it there is a fix somewhere using an old tobacco tin, dont know how it works, I myself only pull in about 700 channels on my fixed 28.2 dish but it gets all the sports and movies so thats good enough for me :)
