Billy Connolly has been cast by Peter Jackson in his two-picture adaptation of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit.
Billy Connolly - To play Dain Ironfoot
Connolly will play the role of Dain Ironfoot, dwarf warrior and cousin of Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage).
Commenting on casting Connolly, Jackson said: "We could not think of a more fitting actor to play Dain Ironfoot, the staunchest and toughest of Dwarves, than Billy Connolly, the Big Yin himself.
"With Billy stepping into this role, the cast of The Hobbit is now complete. We can't wait to see him on the Battlefield!"
The first of the Hobbit movies, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be released on December 14.
The second, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, opens on December 13 2013.
