on monday my vm internet was going really slow and stopping so called vm to ask whats going on with the line
and i was advised i had uploaded 91gb of data in less than 24hrs and that was the issue well how i uploaded 91gb i still dont know i dont even use torrents i only use newgroups
so i was advised to factory reset router and re connected each device 1 by 1 and watch the data in and ut usage as this may give me an idea what was doing it after this all has been good
i did this and checked each morning and evening after work what data i used and TBH it seemed pretty reasonable from monday evening to friday morning around 11gb downloaded and 500mb uploaded
anyway come home this evening and i was welcomed with this when i checked
Session Time 2day 23h:35m:56s
Session Data Downloaded 17,592,186,018,713 MB
Session Data Uploaded 17,592,186,043,268 MB
now that is some serious downloading/uploading lol but that wasnt me and if anyone pulled that off over the 10 hrs i was at work fair play lol
my box has not been hi jacked and dont stream outside the house and have no ports open
so gave vm a call and asked what it was all about and have now been told my downstream power is to low and an engineer is booked for Wednesday
so had a quick look on the router this is my downstream
now a few questions what on earth is downstream and upstream while im asking
i have an active vm bb line and have added a splitter in November and run cable to my duo2 with a vm sub less than 5 meters away and all has be very good with not a single issue all connections are also tight and not loose
can vm see i have a duo 2 connected?
can vm see that i am pulling data from them to watch tv via my duo2?
when engineer comes on wendsday i will move my duo2 and put my sky box in place will there be any logs on my router
i am ok with pc and that but never really bothered about networks and routers i know how t check thing on them and make them as secure as i know but sme of the wording/options on the router throws me
sorry for such a long post
