Emptied trashcan but still saying it is nearly full

So i have highlighted the trashcan, and selected to delete everything, but when it still says my trashcan has XX GB of space used

Do i need to do something else?

i always had to go into trashcan and delete one by one,not in a lump sum? click on it to see if anything is there?

If you still can't delete the items individually, try FTPing into the box and delete them that way?

Had a similar issue, all old programs deleted, and trashcan emptied and disk space doesn't go up lol

Last time I formatted the bloody thing as it was doing my head in.

Then I came across a post like this, can't remember who posted it originally.

Delete everything from the trashcan then just leave it, for some reason the Hdd will clear slowly over the next
few hours.

If you keep checking you will see the disk space slowly increases and the space it shows in the trashcan
will go down.
