How would I install the zip file using putty.

Can't you just put the zip file onto usb and install it through file manager and select the usb to install it that way through the temp folder

You said the box flashed OpenATV.

Ftp the OpenATV zip file to media/hdd/imagebackupsThen flash via vix imagemanager

So I downloaded openatv-6.2-zgemmash2-20181226_usb. zip file
Got dcc and ftp the whole zip file to hdd\media\filemanager
went to filemanager and the zip file is there
pressed blue to restore image
it went through a countdown while the restore prepares
it then reurns to imagemanager and a new line appears reading
imagerestore
restart gui
nothing no change whatsoever.
What have I done wrong.

As I said in my previous post, I have tried that but its not working. get the feeling im doing something wrong but cant see what.

And I thought this script made flashiing so easy LOL
Think its a combination of a bitsa box cobbled together and my lack of knowledge about flashing these boxes. Things are slowly coming back but just cant see where im going wrong. I am trying to be as specific as I can about what I am doing to see if anyone can spot the mistake.

unzip the file you have downloaded and place the zgemma folder on the USB stick.
Now browse to the zgemma -> H3 folder and if there is a file named noforce, rename it to force.
Now power off the box, insert the usb stick into the box and then turn the box on, you should see 'FLSH' on the led display for a few minutes before it reboots. once it has rebooted take the usb stick out of the box otherwise it will flash again next time the box reboots

You said 'Got dcc and ftp the whole zip file to hdd\media\filemanager'

This is wrong, it needs to be /media/hdd/imagebackups/

I rechecked and I ftp the zip file to imagebackups. is that wrong it does show up in imagemanager.

So where will I find the h3 folder I am using dcc to acces the files on the zgemma.

DOWNLOAD THIS AND PREPARE YOUR DRIVE FOR FLASHING
IT IS ACTUALLY VERY EASY TO DO:

http://www.willobuild.xyz/Utilities/Preparing Flash Drives.zip

DOWNLOAD THIS AND EXTRACT THE ZGEMMA FOLDER TO THE FLASH DRIVE:

http://images.mynonpublic.com/openatv/6.2/zgemmah2s/openatv-6.2-zgemmah2s-20181228_usb.zip

POWER OFF THE H2S AND INSERT THE FLASH DRIVE INTO THE REAR PORT

POWER ON AND PRESS THE FRONT POWER BUTTON WHEN 'UPDT' APPEARS ON THE DISPLAY

RELEASE THE POWER BUTTON WHEN 'FLSH' APPEARS ON THE DISPLAY

WHEN THE BOX REBOOTS REMOVE THE FLASH DRIVE AND INSERT YOUR DRIVE THAT YOU WILL USE FOR RECORDINGS

THEN FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS HERE:

Thanks for that willow, I will give it a try.

I have followed your instructions Willow and everything is now complete. And I have to say it was a lot easier than I frist thought it would be. I am amazed that this is all done with one line of code and the build at first sight is absolutely fantastic. Many thanks to you guys for your patience and the sharing of your knowledge with us newbies, it is very much appreciated.
One final obstacle to overcome. The putting in of the line. It is broken down into sections and I don't really understand what each section is asking for could someone clear that up for me. or maybe I should ftp my line over, if so where would I put it if doing it through dcc.

what type of line do you have? ie what does it start with? how are you putting your line on the box?
