Hi All
Have a 2008 1.6tdci done 75k which has started showing "motor averiada" which translates to "engine broken" !!
Just been to UK and back and ran perfectly.
Been on the diagnostic setup three times and no fault shown and error then goes.
However, after 15 miles it comes back, then 3 miles it goes again and seems to repeat this pattern each time.
Still no loss of power or other faults but obviously apprehensive of doing any long journeys whilst showing this fault.
Anybody come across this before or any suggestions please ?

if its something major ford's tend to go into limp mode when the engine management light comes on. as there is no code being stored it is hard to point at the problem. does it run ok still when the message is displayed, what about the water temp is it higher than normal.

All runs normally when warning is on.
Turbo fine, no loss of water or any signs of running hotter than normal.
Driving me round the bend because I cannot use the computer info while warning is on !

could be the diesel particle filter, may need to give it a run on a motorway to blow it clean. if you do a lot of short drives it gets a little blocked.

Had that removed 2 years ago.
Got fed up having it cleaned out and poor performance and car runs so much better without it !

Ecu was at fault because it couldn't detect the DPF !
Had to have it remapped to exclude that particular check !
Not a cheap fix as a specialist did it because Ford agents can't !

only trouble ahead maybe the nct or your english test may require your car to be fitted with one.:damn::damn::fartlight:

No mate cos it's Spanish and the removal of the DPF doesn't affect the emissions test here.
Alredy been through one ITV with no problem and a 2 year cert.

our nct over in ireland like to add new things to the ever growing list of failures, newest thing added rusty brake disc backing plates are now a fail lol.
what passed years ago wont now.

Only passed 2 months ago so not a problem here.
Only just phasing out the three legged donkey needing an ITV !!...LMAO
