hey guys, this probably isnt the place to be asking this but here goes.....
one of my mates has just bought a router off one of his mate and he says its a "chipped router".
ive actually seen this working and was just wondering if anyone knew owt about these and if some body could help me out on actually do it myself

In what way do u mean its a chipped router?
In a way that he gets free internet? faster internet even tho hes on the lowest tariff?
 
it was around a few years ago aswell. on vermin i dont know it is good for all isp.
 
all i know is it has firmware installed on it and he paid 50 quid for it and thats it lol

How is he connected? Cable, Phone, Dish...... and what speeds is he getting?
 
Hey Gman, this was on offer in Dublin a few years ago. It was a cloned/chipped/dunno router. A one off payment, but no-one around here knew anything about it, so I passed.. it was set for the highest available NTL speed at the time.
The only other thing I remember is that it was a cable device, couldn't be used on mmds or whatever that sat thing was called.

Yeah hes talking about cloned routers, mac trades etc
