Freesat

I have a redundant F5 in my attic. I'm wondering if I can get freesat on it as I'm putting a telly in my bedroom. I've got no Ariel in there or satellite cable point yet so just deciding which to run in there. satellite or Ariel. Freeview or Freesat. I'm not going to buy a freesat specific box so just wondering if I can use my old F5 without a line. Any Ideas anyone.?

And do I need to put firmware on it? I know I will get free to air channels on it but I'm after it working like a Freesat dedicated box that Freesat supply for about 80 quid.

you shouldnt need to put anything on it,
its a closed OS box, so you cant flash it with different images or anything like you could with an E2 box,
but, you can use it for recording, only on the channel you are watching though, or use it to record when you arent watching.
it wont work like a modern freesat box will, its a fairly old box,
if you want it to behave like a modern box then buy a cheap E2 twin tuner box for a lot less than 80£
