H5.2TC - Out of the Box Setup Assistance

Hello,

Ordered and received a H5.2TC from an Amazon seller 'ShiningDVB'.

I've asked for assistance, but haven't got far since Monday.

I've hooked up the cable feed to the adapter and then to the box, and tried scanning, but get no channels.

This is where I'm stuck, I'm sure I need to configure something, but do not know what.

This is using the out of the box image.

For now I want to use Freesat and VM free stuff, til I'm ready to try and N line, for Luton area.

You might be better off flashing someone's build to the box if you're new to it.
There are several in the downloads section.
You'll need to find the network ID for Luton to scan for channels on cable.
You will only get channels 1 - 5 in SD without a line though.

Thanks. The other task I managed to complete was backup the default image to USB.

I'm open to suggestions: Is there a particular Image to download with all the nitty gritty taken care of, and instructions on how to input the NetID (Googling it, I found: Luton 1 NTL 00005 755.000 6.887 & Luton 2 NTL 00005 739.000 6.887 )?

I intend to use freeSat and channels 1 - 5 initially.
 
Grog68 has one for ATV and there is a ViX build from me.
Both should be pretty much set up apart from adding a line.

I can't remember the path for ATV but on ViX:

Menu > Setup > Tuner Config > AutoBouquetsMaker > Providers

Change Freesat to yes and Sky UK to no.
Scroll down to Virgin and change your NetID to 00005 using left/right buttons and then go back and start scan.

Yes and there is a PDF guide included in the zip file.

Hey Willo,

Sat channels have cleared, but 2 snags:

1. Formatted 2.5" portable HDD fine, but can not set it to /HDD.
2. Configured Cable Tuners NetID to 00005 and set regions etc, but when scanning, says there's a problem with scanner C, check settings.

Anything else to try?
 
Sorry, my picture is a Mutant HD51, I haven't got a H5.2TC connected up at the moment.
I was just trying to show that the HDD mount should be /media/hdd and ext4 R/W and how the tuner should be set up in Tuner Config.
 
tuner a needs to be of if you not using a sat dish on it, then tuner b and c need the same settings in both of them
 
Disconnect the HDD and leave it disconnected, restart the box.
Go to Plugins > USB Format and follow the instruction, then restart the box.

Then go to Mount Manager and set it as /media/hdd if it isn't already.
