How do I change technomate splash?

So basically I want to change the splash boot (which shows technomate and the linux penguin), this is the image you see before it shows the loading bar.

Nothing to do with MVI (so please do not suggest that)

Most threads I've read say I need to flash it. does this mean I flash it once I install an image or can I do it without it.

Any help is appreciated.
 
Just tried it without a Image install, think I screwed up my box :(
Won't even turn on, stuck on the garbled image.

EDIT: My box won't even boot anymore, why did I try this :( :(. Does anyone know how to fix this?
