Hi, currently have Virgin Broadband and my own Zgemma box installed, cables were already pre installed from a Virgin engineer.

How would it be possible for me to get a new cable into a different room to use a second box? I have looked at the brown box outside and it currently only has 2 ports which are both taken, is it as simple as adding a splitter for 3 ports and running the cable into the room?

Yes - if you're routing the wires on the outside of the house, you simply replace that 2 way with a 3 way and run it into the room you want it in then terminate it and then run a wire from there to your second zgemma box.
 
No, it's fine going into the brown box outside to replace the 2 way with a 3 way.

The only other thing you'll need is a piece of cable to go from wall plate into zgemma and F to RF adapter as should be fitted to your other box.
 
Jumping on this topic, is it easy enough to get in the brown box outside? I had a quick look once and didn't look easy to get in?
