Is there a proper media streamer better than kodi direct?

Hi. I have the woosh build installed and it's excellent. I have a NAS drive with photos, music DVDs and movies and music on, I generally play these through a htpc downstairs via kodi but I could also play them through my free sat hd box, is there a plug in I can get that can do this? I really wanted to get a full version of kodi running on the machine but I can only find kodi direct and it doesn't let me stream from my NAS.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
