kryptview birmingham, updated latest firmware, scanned channels, but not all showing.

ah it seems to be picking up more channels now, but they are showing a 'no or bad signal' message. but the channels are on the list. e.g. the movie channels are not working...

telewest settings seems to be the right settings..

my virgin white cable is in the rf in port on the kv box and it works for the channels, so i assumed this was right. (

the only other option is the "loop out"? but i get no signal when its connected to that port...

its in the right port...and screws on. i probably described it wrong,my apologies.

Well IF it is a Virginmedia cable feed, then you definately should be on NTL network instead of Telewest. Thats for certain.

All I can suggest is the same as previous, factory reset in the installation menu, then do a automatic scan on NTL network.

Your connections are correct.

My apologies wakkaday, after doing some searching it looks like Telewest may be the network for VM in the Birmingham area. So you also have the correct firmware. I am a bit stumped as to why your not picking up all the channels unless you have a weak incoming signal as you have tried to scan without the splitter as cactikid suggested.

Net ids used in Birmingham in the past

Birmingham TW/C&W, 41011 643000 6952
Birmingham TDN Trial, 41022 499000 6952
Birmingham Trial BM01, 40993 643000 6952
Birmingham Trial BM01, 41008 643000 6952
Birmingham TDN, 41015 499000 6952

Just try different ones till you get a full channel list.

Do a "reset to factory default settings" and delete all existing channels then repeat the process
untiil you get a full channel list

Don't worry you wont break anything.Just a bit of trail and error and patience.

I scan out of manchester and im in liverpool, but thats where I get
a full channel list so thats what I use. Work that one out ! :)

hmm yes i've lost some channels again, maybe i will try wolverhampton etc.. and thanks guys for your help. this is a great forum. will try out them net ids

only getting 2 bhams, tdn and another other one.
if i want to manually enter the net ids where do i do that

also another problem i have is if there is a channel working and i change the channel, it doesnt load the other channel..seems to lose the picture on all the channels...

Dont think you can enter them manually, you just have to take whats listed.

What is you signal strength and quality, if you switch channels it displays at the bottom
of the screen they should be about 85% plus

signal says its in the 80s, but i've noticed the channels dont always work some days even if it showing a signal i get the error 'no or bad signal, but they will work in evening...its strange

there is 's' and there is a 'q' in the channel information bar at the bottom.

both signal and quality need to be in the 80s,if they are upgrading in your area you may lose it for a while.

Have you got the minimum tv package ?

The fault is basically telling you whats wrong.
If the signal strength and quality are on the low side
you may not get all the channels when you scan.

You could check all the connections, on the F connectors, splitters etc
to see if tou can get it a bit higher. You may have a bit of shielding
touching the main cable or something or as cactikid suggested they may be
working in your area.

If you go on thier website you can put in your postcode
(or another close to you if you are a bit scared lol)and see if there
are any faults registered in your area.
