Limited storage on laptop

Feets

Newbie
I bought a HP laptop about a year ago. It was only 30gb and I knew this was low, but I rarely save anything to laptops anyway so figured it would be fine for what I need to use it for (mainly just using the internet).

But the 30gb was a bit misleading as approx half of this is used up by system files. Is there any way of getting more storage out of this laptop?

Thanks in advance!

That's the problem with netbooks, if you've got an sd card slot you can get a decent size quite reasonably or the most cost effective option is a USB hard drive but that's only practical if you use it one place

An unpowered USB hard drive would be my suggestion. You can get a 1Tb for a reasonable price if you shop around.

I've used external hard drives to store pics/music etc before. Do you mean to use it the same way? Or can I put the system files onto it instead?
