    Hey All,

After everything that is going on with $ly, I've decided to move to VM.

I am selling my current boxes and will be purchasing new ones (Mutant HD51)

Just wondering, what is needed to get VM besides the below

    • Active connection
    • Sub Line
    • Cable Box
    Do I need splitters??

I live in ROI - How do I set up my box? (I read about codes/frequencies need to be input)

    Thanks all

If you're replacing a genuine VM box you don't need a splitter, if you only have the internet then you need to split the feed from there with a tratec 5-1000mhz splitter.

You'll also need a coax to rf adapter.

Is your box twin cable or? ... this depends how many of these adapters you'll need and also if you need a 2/3 way splitter etc.

Not sure about network id for ireland - you will need one but not sure what it will be.

Right cool I'll get one of those splitters and an rf adapter.

The box I am looking can be seen below.

Which should I go for? (I was going to go for a VM & $ly line combo)

    • 2 x Hybrid DVB-C/T/T2
    • 1 x Hybrid DVB-C/T/T2 & 1 Satellite DVB-S/S2

My query is about cable and as far as I know, cable channels are safe for now.

    $ly channels are dropping.

So does that mean sly sports work through this method?

Haha I appreciate the help. What other boxes are available as that one is a bit pricey for me. And also how do you go about getting the channels.

Sorry for the question overload I admit I'm not strong in this section

Well these boxes aren't plug and play.

You get the box, hook it up with your VM cable, add your net id (Location ID Easily found on TK), load your line and get your channel list.

I don't have a cable box, I'm just trying to share my knowledge

Have a mate that works for virgin in Ireland, Says there is talks from liberty global with american cable companies about encryption called DCII or Digicypher or something along those line across Europe.

Make what you will of it.

Never heard of it myself? anyone know anything about it?

I'm in the same situation, lost most sly channels looking to switch to VM but so many different boxes I've no idea what to look for spec wise or what they all do, I've got an active VM feed though so hopefully It isn't too hard. No Idea what NET ID is or means though. I was looking at a thread last night that suggested a technomate nano or something with triple tuner 2 cable with openvix (whatever that is) more research needed i guess.
