Patching images - zgemma h7 - openvix

Does anybody know how difficult it is to "patch" an image ?
I have been a long time ViX user and have a H7 and, as of yet, there is no ViX image.

I know the H2 models use a patched Mutant image. Does anybody know what is involved in patching, and is it possible to totally brick a box (I mean fully brick it rather than just a reflash) if it goes wrong ?

I would like to know this too.
I have tried to replicate the H2S ViX flash using mutant files but it soft bricked and I had to reflash the bootloader.
I've also got the H7 but I'm not messing with it lol.
The H5 got ViX eventually, I'm hoping the H7 won't be too long.
 
Yea, I just wonder if it needs the drivers adding ... ? I say "just" but maybe it isnt just :p
I'm struggling with Open ATV, it seems to egg time/spinning circle on a lot of actions which requires a reboot to recover.
Usually the "file list" option or sometimes even loading the plugin list
 
Adding to what though? The question is really which image do you use as a base?
I know the Mutant 1200 is used for the H2 range but would the HD51 work?
The SF4008 seems to be most similar spec wise.
I would love to find out how to do it but my H2S experience put me off lol.
£200 is lot to convert into a doorstop!
Have you made your own ATV build or used mine? I'm on OpenPLI at the minute.
 
When you say your H2S experince,, did kill it ? Or just need a USB flash ?

I use my own vanilla images (Open ATV 6.1) and add and remove plugins as required.
I have tried different builds but just the skins alone put me off. I like the basic look, stability and speed.. Basic ViX is the perfect image.
One thing I do like about ATV is the ability to hide menu items out of the box

Do you get many hang on you 7C ?
 
I had to source and flash the bootloader and then reflash an image.
I just use menusort to hide stuff on ViX. (Factory Reset in particular).
The H7C doesn't get chance to hang. It gets flashed more times than a nun on Wimbledon Common!
 
I tried PLI but got an error I couldn't get around so restored back to ATV
There are other images on the .tv site but I havent tried them.

Do you know who patched the H2 images? I posted a messgae on the forum linked to the .tv site but it looks like a pretty quiet forum to say the least
