Cable Please Help Newbie - How to get a test 24 hour VM gift line and install it???

Hello everybody :)

I am sorry if i sound stupid, and I know theres lots of threads but I just dont know which info to use.

I purchased a H2H zgemma box which has the latest software and firmware on it, it has the latest OPEN ATV image, and I connected it with a VM cable at the back as i want to use for cable side only.

The thing is, when i turn it on, its on the SLY HD blue skin and says all the channels but no picture comes on at all?? Even on the freeview channels which I thought it would?
I use to have a starview and blade, and they tell you the signal strength so I could establish that there is actually a feed being picked up but how do i check if the VM cable feed is being picked up by the h2h box?? Like can i check the signal quality etc?

I dont know how to put in a C Line, and really need a 24 hour test line (which I did on my blade and starview box)

Does anybody have any details on how i can try a test line or how i set this up so picture actually comes on the channels!! And the process to put a test line or gift line into the box??

Thanks

transfer the CCam file to pc then open with notepad or word copy and paste your new line over the top of old one save it then transfer back to your box reset it then it should work

Hi God666, thanks for replying. I don't have a CCcam file. I was just sent a line of code (for 24 hour testing) as described in my earlier email. It starts with an 'N' too... is that an ok line for a CCcam.cfg file?

Put it in newcamd.list remove the N: and replace with CWS = with a space between cws and = and your line

Example
CWS = vm.server.com 10100 user-7321 1285612 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14
CWS = tv.server.com 10100 user-7321 1285612 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

It goes in usr/keys so does CCcam.cfg

If you want to use CCcam.cfg

It will be N: vm.server.com 10100 user-7321 1285612 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

Thanks dsayers and god666, I have the idea now, and understand what you're telling me. Unfortunately, when I connect the LAN cable from my laptop to zgemma and try to connect using Filezilla, it will not connect. I got the zgemma IP address off the Menu > Information > Network when it was connected via LAN cable to the TPlinks plug in the socket. I then disconnected this TPlinks cable and put it into the laptop computer. Used root as user and password and port of 21. But no joy, it will not connect. Any ideas on that one!

I was going to ask the same question, so this is very helpful thank you. My box should be here sometime later today.

My questions are relating to VM.

How do I replace the open ATV image that comes with the original zgemma H2H with a VM image?
Which image would you recommend for VM DVB-C Tuner?

You don't connect via lan cable leave the box connected to your router then ftp via an ftp program I use filezilla

Hi dsayers2014. What!? This is new to me. None of the numerous youtube videos showing FTPing via Filezilla actually show you how you are communicating to the zGemma. I presumed the LAN cable went from my PC to the LAN input at the back of the zGemma. So you're saying I leave the LAN cable connected from the back of the zGemma connected to the TP-Link plug in the wall. So where do I connect the LAN cable from my PC to? Aren't I connecting PC to the zGemma and FTPing it over? Thanks in advance...

No it's done via your home network have a look at my screen shots here http://www.techkings.org/zgemma-sta...2014-openatv-image-h-2h-one-set-bouquets.html at the bottom Idiots Guide for adding your line with Filezilla client version. You may also be able to do it via file Explorer on your pc goto network and see if your zgemma shows there

Thanks. dsayers. Ok, so I connect the LAN cable from my PC to the back of my router!! My zGemma is connected to a TPLink plug in the electrical socket, which connects back to the router to the other end of the TP Link coming out of the back of the router. So the IP address I see for the zGemma on my TV screen is actually the IP address of the router, right. God, why don't any of the you tube videos show where you actually connect the PC LAN cable to... I was wrongly thinking along the lines of connecting directly from the PC into the ZGemma via the LAN cable input at the back of the zGemma. Thanks again dsayers.

The ip address is of your zgemma that will show up on your router ie every device that is connected to your router has it's own ip address

Evening. I just thought I'd update you guys. I managed to get the image working, but not sure how to apply the vm skin. Anyway, i might have to cancel the idea of having a vm only image as I might want to either go for both vm & sly or sly only. The reason is because I made a mistake thinking vm did a channel HD, only to find out that they haven't got it yet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
