PVR capability of a Openbox V5S

Hi guy's i am thinking about getting an Openbox V5S to replace a Humax box i have. I understand that you need to hook up an external HDD to be able to record programs. Can you record programs in advance, do a sort of "series link" option and pause and rewind TV with an external HDD?

Sorry if this has been asked (many) times before?? I am new to all this so any help will be much appreciated.

From my limited knowledge you can set it to pause and rewind 'live' tv, and also set timers for it to record. You cannot from what i know, do any form of series link for the unit
