quick help on VIX image already loaded for a newbie

HI

i asked for assistance in the vu solo2 section , but fewer views and no replies, so maybe better guidance here, plus its more a generic post anyway.

just got my VU solo2, second hand so came with vix image ,

neebie on this , so help appreciated,
i saw the tutorial on vix image for cable/sat but unsure how you connect the laptop to the box , so i presume its via an ethernet from computer to box ?

PLus can anyone point me in the right direction to find the Filezilla program ? cant see it in the Downloads section

It runs by using your home network.

So ethernet from box to router, also ethernet from computer to router.

Just google filezilla, download the "client" version it's free.

Get your IP from the box.

Menu - Information - Network.

Then use filezilla to transfer the files to the box as per the guide.

I think the best program is Dreambox Control Centre, it might be an older program but was designed for these box so very simple to setup and use, does Telnet and FTP which is what you need.
 
Guys , makes sense - and sounds a bit obvs now , new to the Linux boxes with images , had a fair bit of knowledge with the nagra 2 cards etc , nostalgia eh? Thanks again
