Record using Old Sky plus hd box

Hi, is it possible to to record the freest channels on a sky plus hd box without a viewing card?

You could jtag the old Pace 3100 boxes to enable recording and timeshift for FreeSat (I've got 3 in the loft) but I don't think it was ever cracked on the newer models.

best thing [ imo ] you can do is take the HDD out, format it, and use it for an E2 box, or DVR,
I've done that with a few old sly boxes for friends, cheap source of proper video capable HDD

Had a few of them myself. Shame the newer e2 boxes are using the mini laptopstyle drives as the digibox ones don't fit inside. External caddy work great though if you don't mind going external
